The Gambia’s information minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay appears to be fast-losing one of the most fundamental traits of his role-credibility-as King FM contributors this morning concurred in their assessment of the information minister as a man, whose words should be taken with a grain of salt.
Contributor Manneh from Brufut believes that many of Dr. Ceesay’s words cannot be taken to the bank, citing instances where the minister was fact-checked and found to be “embellishing” the truth.
“Dr. Ceesay should allow us breathing space. He said things here that were fact-checked and found to be untrue,” Manneh said in his contribution to King FM’s weekly Free Opinion, Have Your Say morning show on Wednesday.
Another caller Ousman Manjang opined that no amount of dressing up lies as truths can subvert the course of truth.
Callers, who were reacting to remarks attributed to Dr. Ceesay that Talib Bensouda’s presidential ambition has rendered him too busy for the KMC, suggested that the information minister’s words no longer hold sway in the public square.
Callers hinted that Dr. Ceesay’s “spin-doctoring” makes many think again before accepting whatever he says.
