‘Nawec Alarmed By Spike In Metre Theft’

Nawec is reported to be gravely concerned about the ‘proliferation’ in water meter theft in some localities of the country.

An insider at Nawec told this medium that the daily reports of metre theft were becoming alarming and concerning to Nawec authorities.

The areas most-affected were estates and desolate areas, sources said.

The copper in the water metre is said to be a highly-priced commodity on the scrap market.

“Reports of metre theft is worryingly on the increase, especially in estates and other quiet areas,” a senior Nawec official told JollofNews.
