Following the unsuccessful efforts of the police in Jarra Soma and some residents of the provincial town to convince her to talk to them or positively respond to their gestures of support, the “old witch”, roaming provincial Gambia has opened up to JollofNews.
A police officer in Jarra Soma told JollofNews that the old woman was roaming the countryside all those days and that they received news that she had supernatural powers.
“You will lodge her in your house and she will transform into an animal or another human being to harm you,” he explained.
Another police officer, who identified himself as Saderr Sarr, said: “I raised money for her early this evening at the mosque so that she could be able to travel back to Basse but here she is at this time of the night, refusing to go or talk to anyone. And, we cannot do anything about that,” Saderr said.
PYFC tv reported some weeks ago that the woman was seen in the Foni villages but was chased away by locals on suspicion of engaging in witchcraft. The platform showed unverified photos of how she “metamorphosed” into a beautiful, well-dressed and ornamented lady with her hair kissing tall mango tree leaves. She was also reportedly accused of practicing witchcraft in a commercial vehicle en route to Basse and taken to Bwiam police station but what she “did” there made the officers hurry onto the highway to hitch a hike for her to Jarra Soma.

Well, we had a warm encounter with the old woman at Jarra Soma and she told us something about herself.
Details later…
