UDP Extols Aja Sukaina Kah As ‘Pillar Of The Struggle’

The UDP has been plunged into a state of mourning following the death on Saturday of the party’s women’s wing president, who the party described as a “pillar of the struggle”.

“It is with profound sorrow, a heavy heart, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the United Democratic Party (UDP) announces the passing of Aja Sukaina Kah, the UDP National President of the Women’s Wing,” the UDP announced.

“This heart-breaking news is shared by her close and extended family, the Party Leader and Secretary General H.E. Ousainu Darboe, the National Executive Committee, the entire UDP membership, and indeed the Gambian people at large.”

“A devoted patriot, steadfast party loyalist, and courageous woman of conviction, Aja Sukaina remained committed to the UDP from its founding in 1996 until her final days. Through the most difficult periods of repression and political persecution in our country, she stood firm, fearless, and unwavering in her dedication to democracy, justice, and the service of The Gambia.”

The party said “the sacrifices, loyalty, wisdom, and contributions” of its late women’s wing president “to the UDP and the nation will never be forgotten”. “She dedicated her life to uplifting women, strengthening the party, and standing for truth and justice when many feared to do so”, it added.

“The UDP mourns the loss of a mother, a leader, a mentor, and a true pillar of the struggle.

“We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to her family, loved ones, the Women’s Wing, friends, supporters, and all Gambians mourning this painful loss.

Late Aja Sukaina Kah

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive her shortcomings, widen and illuminate her grave, grant her Jannatul Firdaus, and give her family and loved ones the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss.”
