Minister of Lands and Regional Government, Hon. Hamat NK Bah, has called on residents of Upper Saloum to register for their voter’s cards and reaffirm their support for President Adama Barrow ahead of the next presidential election.
Hon. Bah made the appeal on Wednesday during a joint meeting for Upper Saloum and the Central River Region (CRR) North, held in Bayen Village as part of the ongoing nationwide Meet the People Tour.
Addressing a large crowd, the minister underscored Upper Saloum’s importance in The Gambia’s political landscape and urged residents to maintain their strong backing of the president.
“We will all meet at Janjanbureh to ensure enough voter’s cards are obtained and give President Barrow 80% of the votes,” Hon. Bah said, calling for full participation in the voter registration process to secure what he described as a decisive mandate for the president.
Praising President Barrow’s leadership, Hon. Bah described him as a “working hero” who remains committed to the welfare of Gambians. “President Barrow can work the whole night without rest,” he said, emphasizing the president’s tireless dedication to national development.
He further portrayed President Barrow as “the only relevant and important candidate” for the upcoming election, pointing to the “visible development” achieved under his administration across the country.
In his remarks, Hon. Bah also made a comparison between healthcare accessibility in The Gambia and in developed nations. “In America or Europe, hospitals are not everywhere, but in The Gambia, they are widely accessible,” he said, noting the government’s efforts to bring essential services closer to communities.
Fulfilling an earlier promise to residents of Daru Mbayen, Hon. Bah presented a new milling machine to the community. “You asked for a milling machine, and I have provided a brand-new one. Follow your Governor to collect it,” he told the crowd, drawing applause from attendees.

The event was one of several engagements during President Barrow’s Meet the People Tour, which aims to connect the presidency with citizens across the country and address their development priorities ahead of the 2026 presidential polls.
