(JollofNews) – Namibia on Tuesday defeated Gambia 2-1 at the Windhoek’s Sam Nujoma Stadium to progress to the preliminary second round of qualifying to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Namibia needed a goal in second half to win the match after securing an all-important draw away in Gambia last Friday, October 9 during the first leg encounter in Bakau.
The West African team drew first blood early in first half, which Namibia cancelled out in the dying minutes before the interval.
Namibia will now progress to the second round, where 40 teams will compete for a place in third round.
The 20 winners from the second round will be divided into five groups of four – from which the emerging five winners will represent Africa at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
