The Gambia Football Association GFA, look set to appoint a technical director, a powerful position that last existed since the exit of Musa Njie, the first Gambian to hold such a position.
Local journalists in Banjul told Gamsports that the GFA are in advance stage of naming a prominent sports personality as the new technical director.
Though officials are yet to make a decision, a credible source in one of the clubs informed Gamsports that Kebba Ceesay, a former and long term technical committee chairman of the GFFA is likely to get the job. Ceesay is also a renown trade unionist.
When it was created some ten years ago, the technical director was the most highly paid job in the country’s football with duties entailing the overall direction of all technical matters of the association.
The former holder; Musa Njie is credited for the designing of among other plans, the youth football programme which gave birth to the Under 17 team that scored great success for the country. For more on Gambian sports please visit www.gamsports.com
