(JollofNews) – The incoming regime of President-elect Adama Barrow is reaching out to Gambians in the Diaspora to return home and actively participate in building the New Gambia.
The new administration which is due to take over from President Yahya Jammeh, who has been in power for 22 years on 19th January 2017, said under their leadership, there will be sufficient place and abundant opportunities for all Gambians who are ready to work hard.
“We all have a stake in the enthronement of a developed, stable and peaceful Gambia,” said Mai Ahmad Fatty a senior member of the administration.
“We believe that in voting for change, Gambians voted for their future, not their past. Our focus is to build solid foundation for viable future for all Gambians, regardless of subjective inclinations.
The former human rights lawyer survived numerous assassination plots by the agents of the Jammeh regime added: “Together, we shall build a great nation, a vibrant inclusive democracy, innovate opportunities for all those who are willing to work hard for it, and better quality of lives for all.
“All Gambians in all walks of life, are encouraged to support this goal. Of our citizens in the Diaspora who are in the position and are willing to do so, are encouraged to return home, to actively participate in building the New Gambia. There is sufficient place and abundant opportunities for all our citizens who are ready to work hard.”
Meanwhile, French president Francois Hollande Tuesday called on President Yahya Jammeh to accept defeat in elections and stand aside.
Mr Hollande said the results of the December 1 polls were “indisputable” and Jammeh’s challenger Adama Barrow “must be installed as soon as possible”.
“The matter is non-negotiable,” he said after a meeting in Paris with visiting Senegalese President Macky Sall.
The present incumbant should respect the people of the Gambia and step aside to effect a peaceful transition. He will be greatly respected for doing so. The election was full proof and free from rigging according to his own predictions. The electorate have spoken and they must be respected. As a regular visitor to the Gambia I hope and pray for common sense to prevail.
When the current political standoff is over, we should focus on uniting and healing the country, and move the country forward.
I would love it if have a constitutional presidential term limit-2 terms at 10yrs max. This may minimized the temptation and likelihood of corruption, military coup, power gripped and open the opportunity for future politicians and able Gambians to have a chance to be leaders in our beloved country.
We should urgently and seriously focus on producing and exporting, supported by the best infrastructure. Can we invest heavily in a clean modern agricultural practice, and improved the earning/income of the farmers and reduce the cost of food. I thought of an attractive agricultural sector with excellent incentive to encourage the youth to involve and have the full commitment to be a farmer. If this is successful, it would eventually and significantly reduce the massive youth unemployment.
Do we really need the armed forces in the future? I understand their responsibilities to protect us and the country, I’m afraid some fools would try to lead us to hell agin in the future–may the good lord protect us. How about reformed it to prepare them for natural disasters etc- this is been done in some Scadanavian countries.
I wonder if Africa would ever the continent of abundance where all her children will enjoy if we are willing to work hard. We are a continent rich in natural resources, inhabited with intelligent and smart people. But absolute greed, selfishness and disregard for one another will always be an impediment to progress. Think about this!

We are away thinking and praying for our families and all Gambians. May peace, good health, and prosperity be upon all of you and may God blessed our beloved country. We are eager to eventually joint you to build our country. Thank you, and God blessed you.
