Trumpet Editor Commanded To Appear At High Court

The editor of The Trumpet newspaper has been commanded to appear at the Banjul High Court next month, JollofNews was informed.

Editor Fabakary B. Ceesay was yesterday served with a writ to appear at the high court on 19 January at 10am to answer a suit brought against him by Dr. Abubakary Jawara.

The GACH CEO is claiming damages for defamation and slander, an order directing Mr. Ceesay to issue an unreserved apology to him through widely circulating national newspapers and an order that Ceesay pay him all special damages.

Dr. Jawara is also seeking a perpetual injunction, restraining Mr. Ceesay whether his agents, cronies, associates, contacts or further defaming him in any way or manner whatsoever, interest rate of 15 per cent per annum, costs and for such further or other orders as the court deems fit.
