Sabally Granted Bail By The Police

The United Democratic Party (UDP) campaign manager, Momodou Sabally, was released on bail today following moe than four days detention by the country’s law enforcement body.

“Yes. I have been granted bail with two sureties and asked to report back at Kairaba station tomorrow at 9 am,” he told JollofNews in response to a request for comment.

Sabally was arrested last Friday over a comment he posted on his Facebook page in the days preceding the regrettable incident that resulted in the tragic loss of two police officers and the hospitalization of another in critical condition.

He was arrested alongside Sheriffo Sonko, a UDP nominated Councilor at the Brikama Area Council (BAC).

Their arrest sparked uproar from the Gambia’s main opposition UDP, compelling the party leader Ousainou Darboe to condemn it, calling it “a politically motivated arrest.”
