Sukuta-Jabang Triple Shooting Case Adjourned

The Sukuta-Jabang triple shooting case could not proceed on Thursday after State prosecutors sought an adjournment of the much-awaited trial to a later date.

The newly appointed Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) Abdurrahman Maitama Yusuf told the court that there is no formal indictment and he received the case file from the Police a day ago.

The primary suspect Ousainou Bojang and his sister Amie Bojang appeared in court after the Police levelled murder and terrorism charges against them. Both were legally represented in court by their respective defense counsels.

Lamin J. Darbo, lawyer for the first accused person while Lamin K. Mbodge and H. Farage stand for the second accused person, did not make any objection to the request made by the Prosecution.

Lawyer Mbodge took the opportunity to decry the delay of the trial, making it very clear that it is “a gross violation of the law.” He then added that the Prosecution should take into consideration the interest of the defendant in getting the matter dealt with.

The case was subsequently rescheduled for October 24, 2023 for the accused persons to take their plea.

Bail Applications Filed

Defense counsels for the second accused person filed an application for the court to consider granting bail to Amie Bojang who is battling “poor health conditions.”

Justice Jaiteh ruled that her bail application will be heard on October 16, 2023.

This was followed by another bail application filed by Lawyer Lamin J. Darbo.

The Presiding Judge acceded to the request made by the first accused person lawyer by setting out October 24, 2023 as the date for Ousainou Bojang’s bail will also heard by the court…
