A Gambian man who was arrested over the weekend after nearly a year on the run has appeared at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court where he was charged with murder and remanded at the Mile Two Prisons.
Bubacarr Drammeh of Berending Village, Kombo South, is accused to have on 11 March 2019 at Gunjur Village Kombo South, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Buba Jammeh during a communal clash between the ammeh Kunda clan of Gunjur and some villagers of Berending.

Drammeh who was no represented in court did not take his plea while the matter is transferred to the High Court in Banjul.
Under Gambia’s strict laws, individuals guilty of murder are given the mandatory life sentences. They cannot also be granted bail pending the determination of their cases.
