Old Yundum District Chief Installed

The Old Yundum District Chief, Ousman Gaye, was installed on Saturday by the Governor of West Coast Region (WCR), Ousman Bojang, at a colourful ceremony held at the Sinchu Alagie Lower Basic School ground.

In Old Yundum district, all roads led on Saturday to the newly appointed Chief’s residence as a big crowd stormed his compound and its vicinity to witness what many have described as an “historical event.”

Prior to his coronation, the ceremony was punctuated by Quranic recitation, and a poignant flag raising ceremony during which members of the Police band displayed in grand style their talent.

Many people who made their way to the Chief’s residence have concorded about his commitment to serve the community.

Before rising to the position of Chief, Ousmane Gaye was previously appointed nominated Councilor for Banjulunding Ward. A year later, he got propelled into the Brikama Area Council (BAC) as Vice – Chairman.

This was corraborated by the successive statements delivered during his installation as Chief of the District.

As the decentralization process is gradually taking shape across the country, Old Yundum district Chief Chief Ousman Gaye made it very clear that his actions will be inspired by the motto: New District, New Chief and New life.
