Will Gambia Gov’t Release Rainfall Forecast Tomorrow?

The Department of Water Resources under the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources has presented to the Office of the President its rainfall forecast for the year 2025, but the document is gathering dust from the shelf, competent sources informed JollofNews.

According to sources, the release of the rainfall predictions could be delayed this year as the government seeks funding.

The government releases rainfall predictions on 9th May annually, but there are fears that it may falter this time around due to funding issues.

“The rainy season is just around the corner, yet the Government is showing no sign of seriousness in preparing farmers for the cropping season as it could fail in releasing the 2025 rainfall forecast in time,” one commentator charged.

“Why does this government want to monetize everything? The nation’s food security also hinges on dependable rainfall forecasts so that farmers can determine what crop to grow and when,” said another commentator.
