8 Gambia Armed Forces Personnel Injured In Road Accident During Security Patrol Return

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that eight personnel from the 3 Infantry Battalion were injured in a road traffic accident in the early hours of Sunday, 11th May 2025. The incident occurred between the towns of Badari and Kundam, around 3:00am to 4:00am, as the troops were returning from a Joint Security Patrol operation.

According to an official statement released by the GAF, the injured soldiers were promptly evacuated to Bansang Hospital where they are currently receiving medical treatment. The severity of the injuries has not been publicly disclosed, but authorities have assured that the soldiers are under professional care.

The Chief of Defence Staff extended his thoughts and prayers to the injured personnel and their families, wishing them a full and speedy recovery. “We are grateful for their service and bravery, and we stand with them during this difficult time,” the statement read.

The Military Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Details surrounding the circumstances remain limited as inquiries are ongoing.
