Talib Calls On UDP Supporters To Disengage From ‘Petty Talks’

The Kanifing Municipality mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda has called on UDP supporters to disengage from “trivial talks” and soon come to the realisation that the next presidential election is a consequential one and that Gambians pin their hopes on the UDP for salvation from the Barrow government.

The young mayor recently came under torrent of criticism from the Brikama Area Council chair Yankuba Darboe, who accused him of marauding his turf of the West Coast Region allegedly as part of a broader underhand tactics, machinations and jockeying by Bensouda to supplant Lawyer Ousainou Darboe as the UDP torch-bearer in the impending general election.

However, addressing a political gathering in the CRR South over the weekend, the KM mayor highlighted that despite coming face to face with all kinds of tormentations, the UDP leader never went to the tv or radio to talk about them.

It could be recalled that Yankuba Darboe recently hinted on Membekering radio and tv that he felt betrayed by his KM counterpart for many reasons.

“UDP is the hope of Gambians. UDP is the party that all Gambians are looking up to. So, do not allow anyone to sow the seeds of discord among us,” stated Bensouda.

“No one in The Gambia has suffered more than Ousainou Darboe, no one had greater pain than Ousainou, no one is more back-bitten than Ousainou, but nobody has ever witnessed Ousainou Darboe narrate all this on a telly or radio. So the people of UDP, let’s cease the petty talks and come to the realisation that what is ahead of us is a consequential election. The entire Gambia pins its hope on UDP.”
