Double Celebration In Gunjur As Muminatou & Alusine Bring Honour To Coastal Community

The coastal community of Gunjur, known among other Gambian settlements for producing the country’s finest brains, is in a double celebration after two of its children smashed the community’s academic record.

Muminatou Barrow, daughter of Abdoulie Barrow and Mabinta Touray, is not only the first female Gunjurian to graduate with Bsc in Computer Engineering from the prestigious Regional Maritime University in Ghana, but she made it to the Dean’s List of outstanding students 2024/2025..

Muminatou is a chip off the old block. Her father, who is currently working with Qcel as an engineer, could be remembered by his peers at Gambia High School for severally walking the podium to receive awards of honour for his exceptional academic performance.

Muminatou’s mother, Mabinta, is currently in Ghana, savouring all the moments of joy and honour that her daughter not only brought to the extended family, but the entire coastal settlement of Gunjur.

Meanwhile, Alusine Barrow of Gunjur heritage graduated as the valedictorian of his class at H. J Alexander Community School in Toronto, Canada.

Alusine is the son of the CEO of Gam-solar Sir Ousman Barrow.

Gunjurians have been sending their congratulatory messages to the duo via the Gunjur online media platform.
