Respected lawyer Lamin J. Darboe has reportedly been written off Lawyer Ousainou Darboe’s good books after he expressed interest in leading the UDP to the 2026 general election, reports reaching JollofNews intimated.
According to credible sources, the UDP leader gave the Gunjur-born lawyer cold-shoulders following his decision to challenge him in the UDP leadership contest a few years ago.
JollofNews could not verify whether the wrinkles that appeared in the relationship between the two Darboes have been ironed out, but what is clear is that many supporters of the UDP are “very mad” with Lawyer Ousainou Darboe for allegedly secretly endorsing Talib Ahmed Bensouda as his successor.
“Ousainou Darboe is the one destroying the UDP and we will help him to rock it,” one angry UDP supporter told JollofNews.
“If he thinks he owns the UDP and can impose anyone on us, then the old man will be fooling himself. We will show him how we do it if he succeeds in his mischievous plan of imposing Talib on us,” added our interlocutor.
“We are in the know and Darboe cannot deny what Sabally said about Talib, Falang Sonko, Yam Secka and others plotting to take the UDP over. It shall never happen. We will break them with Darboe himself before they break the UDP. Our fathers did not found the UDP for nonsense and anyone trying to betray our fathers will come to know of this soon,” said another angry UDP member, who preferred anonymity, for fear of backlash.
“Darboe is not a good elder. How can you be fanning flames of conflict in your own home by favouring one child over others,” he added.
Meanwhile, JollofNews will continue to try to speak to both Ousainou and Lawyer J. Darboe for their reaction.
