Faal Says Any Counter-GALA Protest Would Tantamount Entrenchment Of Corruption

The leader of the APP-SOBEYAA alliance Essa Mbye Faal has said that any protest against the anti-corruption protest recently staged by GALA would tantamount the entrenchment of official corruption.

Reports indicate that the ruling NPP plans on marshalling supporters onto the streets for a mass counter protest against GALA’s recent anti-corruption protest. GALA is an acronym for Gambians Against Looted Assets and the group’s last corruption protest was described by many commentators as hugely successful.

To Essa Faal, any counter activity against this “hugely successful” anti-corruption demonstration would be equated to aiding and abetting theft of public resources.

“What are they[counter protesters] protesting?” Faal asked in an interview with Coffee Time With Peter Gomez on Monday.

“Against GALA,” responded host Peter Gomez.

“Well, GALA is for corruption. Are they[counter protesters] for corruption? So, it therefore means that they are protesting for the preservation and maintenance and promotion of corruption in this country. Well, that is the height of the principle of Naafulo Pisir Pasar [NPP], spend all the government money in a reckless way and nobody would hold you accountable,” Faal bemoaned.
