Some criminals that have infiltrated the so-called Serekunda Black Market are now becoming more daring, taking their criminal activities into vehicles, targeting mobile phones.
The Serekunda Black Market has gained notoriety as one of the places in The Gambia, where stolen mobile phones end.
But it would appear some criminals are not going further afield anymore to steal mobile phones.
“Some of these criminals stand at the market with eyes fixed on passengers and their phones. And they would snatch your phone away at the slightest opportunity,” a taxi driver explained to JollofNews.
Serekunda Black Market at the Serekunda market in downtown Serekunda is located on the busy Sayerr Jobe Avenue, a road used by thousands of commuters everyday. Daylight phone robberies have reportedly become a feature of the area with taxi drivers constantly alerting passengers to the situation.
