Governing National People’s Party (NPP) is reportedly set to put on an unprecedented show of force in Sukuta on Saturday, in what many supporters say, will send a clear and poignant message to the United Democratic Party (UDP) about “who is who in the Gambia’s political arena.”
The planned show of strength comes a week after NPP’s main rival; the UDP triggered a political quake last Saturday as thousands of its supporters went to the airport to welcome the party leader from his European tour.
Darboe, who was accorded a royal welcome, was later accompanied to his Pipeline residence by ecstatic crowds of party faithful several kilometres away from the airport.
JollofNews has learned that the NPP was advanced in its plan to put on a show of force on a grander magnitude as ruling party supporters are poised to paint the landlocked West Coast village red.
The Saturday event was originally planned to be held nearly two months ago as a political rally, but it was put on hold following the demise of key NPP figure Dembo By Force Bojang, and has been reportedly upscaled due to the UDP-quake.

Many NPP supporters were said to be recovering from the “aftershocks” of the UDP’s political earth-shake, and any bigger quake from the NPP will undoubtedly speed up this process.
