Embattled GPA Staff Report To Police HQ

The beleaguered staff members of the Gambia Port Authority (GPA) have been going in and out of the police headquarters (HQ) in Banjul these days as the prospect of prosecution reportedly looms larger in the D20M theft allegation against them.

Some of the embattled staff members were on Tuesday morning spotted at the police HQ at a time of growing public outcry over the alleged missing millions.

The GPA a few years ago made headlines for all the wrong reasons following the mobilisation of State auditors to probe the allegations that some port workers at the port’s rating department were undercutting port fees and diverting the proceeds to personal use.

Speaking to JollofNews in his office at the police HQ, the police spokesperson ASP Modou Musa Sisawo said he was unaware that some port staff were guests of the police of-late and today.

When asked whether he would be surprised to know that some suspected port staff were today seen at the police HQ, ASP Sisawo said: “I won’t be surprised because the AG Chambers, where the case file was sent for legal advice, has brought back the file to the police,” he explained.
