(JollofNews) – The former governor of the Central Bank of the Gambia has used his first media interview since his sacking to hail his record in salvaging the country’s ailing economy and monetary system.
Amadou Colley was sacked on Tuesday by President Adama Barrow after six years in the top job. He was removed together with his deputies Basiru Njai and Oumie Savage-Samba and director of finance, Ousainou Corr.
No reason was given for their removal.
Bakary Jammeh, a senior researcher at the bank, has been named as the new governor.
Mr Colley said although he was surprised at his unceremonious removal, he is proud to have served the Gambia for over three decades.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve my country for 30 years in various capacities,” he told the independent Point Newspaper.
” I am proud to say we did our best to salvage the economy and the monetary system of the country. We had experiences of serious challenges but we did our best to confront them.
“I thank my staff at the bank, the staff of the Ministry of Finance, and the staff of the commercial banks for a good working relation throughout my tenure. I wish the new team success.”
The sacking of the senior heads of the bank was made at a time when the Gambia is experiencing high inflation and depreciation of the local currency.
The country’s economic growth in 2016 is now estimated to have reached only 2.2 per cent, down from 4.3 per cent in 2015, due to limited availability of foreign exchange, weak agricultural output and the effect of the political impasse on tourism during high season.
Headline annual inflation stands at 8.8 per cent in February 2017, driven by higher food prices and the recent depreciation of the Dalasi which increases the domestic price of imported goods.
A right step in the right direction.Remove all the viruses from the New Gambia
Lamin Cessay, you want to “remove all viruses from the “New Gambia”, who are the viruses and what makes them a virus? Does one who yesterday before becoming a NAM, a Cabinet Member or Minister, a Permanent Secretary, Director or Manager of a Parastatal entity could not afford a car, a house or two in Brusbe, another in a highly desired Development and an annual income above and beyond his or her Productivity and ten times the income of the average Working “stiff” Civil Servant, qualify? I am going on a lam and say, by this definition, the Current UDP Led Regime Should Be your first Target. Be warned, you have your work cut out for you. Hope you Succeed for the sake of all Gambians and the Gambia.
Damn! Sidi N. Bojang, have you had treatment from Dr. Sarr? Money well spent – you are now SANE! Good points calmly made.
Yahya Jammeh is a crook. To serve Jammeh for this long as CBG calls for a full investigation of his finances and assets. He claims to be proud of the service he provided but evidence thus far show that he colluded with Yahya to empty the treasury and render Gambia insolvent. For every Gambian that died due to lack of good healthcare, those that died in road accident because of poor road condition, Amadou Colley’s hand is stained with their blood. He knows he served Yahya to the detriment of Gambians and one day he will be called to stand in front of a Judge and show cause. Removal from office is the least of his problem.
Justice for Gambia.
God Bless The Gambia.
As the good book says, “let those without sin, throw the first stone”. In the CE Gambia, no stone throwers just Platitude and Hyperbole “Back seat drivers”.
Those who accrue sins by handing out pads of public funds to praise singing musicians, investing it into private family business, dashing it out to perceived sympathisers etc etc., will be thrown stones. There ain’t no walking back fifty years. Those who misappropriate public funds today, in the face of our children, will be thrown stones. There is no point going biblically graceful when trying to curb corruption.
My commiserations to Mr Colley and his colleagues; Throughout his Governorship. he always produced valuable and correct figures relating to The Gambian economy/
That in itself must have been an ongoing situation of grave risk. We are yet to have proof from President Barrow that Jammeh pilfered 4 Billion Dalasis from the state coffers or the deal approved for Mr Jammeh to leave and for himself to take over the top job.
Let us see the proof and the terms of the “deal”
Mr scales, You’ve supprise me with your last statement, the ultimate word””proof” facts.
How can you be so certain Mr Scales? Can you proof beyond any reason doubt that the figures he gave where accurate and true? Most of his figures painted a rosy picture, picture that is different to an average Gambian businesses and populace’s lives. We saw when he came (Jammeh), he had very little, when he left,he left with Rolls Royce Phantoms and millions worth of goods. The new government will provide proof that he is biggest thief Gambia has ever known in due course.
That of ur saying is senseless, how many yrs had he served as a president of the nation?u will say so but not the present government cus they now knows about the road to success..if we don’t mind, jammeh’s regime will be far more better than the present one…how many millions have they received yet and where are those millions..
Dont forget even if you there a dual citizen just be rest assured that whatever bad one pray for this country Gambia will not happen. If you say that Jammeh govt would be better then you are just one of his admirer but i believe you now have the guts to walk, talk and sleep without any threats against you or any of your family members. You should be thankful that this time in history has come, many have attempted but fail. I bet if you were the president today you won’t be able to fix this huge mess not even in your life time. This is Africa and in power for 22 years you should know what it means.
Commiserating Mr. Colley and colley-gues…? The most prominent financial ‘figure’ and team during Jammeh’s regime of atrocities…
Is the pole to pole journalistic race just beginning?
Dr Sarr, you are preaching to the choir and I will say Ameeeen!!
To Mike Scales, I’ll say yeah, yeah, yeah. Keep on trudging along. Your handshake from Yaya Jammeh will come along soon enough OK. That way you may find a second retirement in Mayorca, Spain.
So, who’s out of touch here and where has the Muzungu, Mujinga been all these years?
I give up!!
:-((
Hey Andrew, I thought you said something about “Flogging a dead horse” yesterday?
Please, let us take a deep breath and Simmer Down before we set our “horns and tail” on fire with the deep seated misdirected smoldering fire within. I am with Mike Scales. Proof or Prove please, or forever hold your peace.
Bob Marley, is a great philosopher I belief. My favorite of all his songs is;
Running and running and you running away……but you can’t runaway from yourself.
I would have dedicated ‘simmer down’ to Yayah Jammeh if there were freedom of expression during his regime.
Jack, what do you think of Burning Spear’s music? He also was a heavy weight in that department. “Do you remember the days of slavery” his signature tune, it never failed to move the audience.
Ha ha ha!, Hooded Skull, he is not that a heavy weight like Bob because sometimes in the 90 he was hooked up on the Jammeh type of toxic merchandise. He loved living his life in the city of the slave master, chanting the days of slavery, unlike Mr. Marley who was taken to Miami to live the American dream, but came back to the guttered ghettos of Kingston to hit the world with his songs of freedom.
Every human being has his/ her imperfections though, Bob had a good foresight of modern slavery in the process and he patted the ‘African’ youth as well to stop using the scythe. One like Robert Mugabe makes him shake in his grave.
If you know something is wrong and you keep quiet you are as guilty as the one you are shielding !
Yes indeed Erika; It’s called transparency.
and by the way I have never worked for Jammeh, Never spoken to Jammeh and never sung his praises….Neither do I need a job.
I agreed to Erika´s input and would like to put more weight on that. I think Amadou Colley as central bank governor in The Gambia knows consciously that dictator Jammeh was misusing/corrupting The Gambia´s economic yet still he keeps quiet on it and continued to work for him dictator Jammeh. I think he is as quilty as Jammeh and should be sack and account.
“I am honoured to have the [opportunity] to serve my country for 30 years in various capacities,”….. …. and all I could deliver was… ” to try to salvage the economy and the monetary system of the country”….[from the ravages of……intense corruption, and ruthless dictatorship] during all that time!
“dr” Isatou Sarr,
You have started LYING again. The crooks were the British colonial masters and the Ex-President Jawara PPP regime from whom President Jammeh inherited the dysfunctional. ill-governed,corrupt, tribalist, regionalist and nepotic administration.
These were the evil governments that stagnated our progress and left the country without an iota of developmental achivement. You can’t just say that because of your impartiality, hate, grudge and evil mind.
President Jammeh did and left a lot of good to move on.
Have you written a book? What is all this heaviness about? Idiot Babu Soli!
What the hell made you such a quarter-minded idiot?
Stop your CORRIGENDUM, TOPOGRAHIC stupid goofy shit. You bore like hell
Corregendum
You can’t just say that because of your impartiality, hate grudge and evil mind.
It should have read: You can’t say that because of your PARTIALITY, hate, grudge and evil mind.
Topograhic error: achievement not achivement.
So many flying accusations; Mai Fatty accused Jammeh of taking 8 million. Barrow claimed on France 24 that it was 4 Billion/
The Governor of The Central Bank is sacked and then more accusations;
The IMF claimed there was massive embezzlement; In their initial statement;
The IMF are due to meet Government again; To sack the Governor of The Central Bank at this important time; is very confusing.
The recent information from The Minister of Finance, claiming Growth at only 2.2% with inflation at 9% appears to be based upon “old Information” Where did they get this from ? Was it The Central Bank ? What are the figures of as today?
This government promised Accountability. Transparency and Probity.
Meanwhile it claims to have borrowed 25 million from The Islamic Bank. What are the terms of this loan/ the interest rate and the payback time ?
What is the cost of this Government in its first 5 months ?
President Barrow and Co cannot keep blaming Jammeh forever for lack of performance’
It now needs to step up to the plate;
Genuine questions and good observation. Interrogate the past, but time to move on and look into the future.
Mr Scales, I’m sure you must know that one of the tricks of a new administration is to blame the previous administration for everything, that is going wrong.
Mr Colley is certainly a person of interest, if the truth about Jammeh’s financial dealings is to be unearthed, having served that long as CB Governor. I’m actually surprised that he was kept in the position for this long. More than enough time to clean the slate, I’d assume.
It seems we Gambians will continue to blame Jammeh without brake, when are we going to pack those issues for the commissions to investigate and start talking about food, health, education, employment for youths, agricultural development etc for the population. we need pragmatic strategies to move on.
to be specific, we need more psychiatric doctors and nurses and every other necessary affiliate as it is crystal clear that some people on these forums without a shadow of doubt are suffering from yet to be diagnosed pseudo Charles bonnet syndrome.
Babu soli stop scrutinizing what people decide to call themselves on forums, what is it about the “dr”?
you trying TOO HARDold man and a little dad- son advise, this can land you in some discomfort, depending on what you call discomfort.
it will be appreciated if you babu soli or whatever you call yourself will stop praise singing the worst nightmare that has ever befallen Gambia and her people in the form of yaya jammeh on any forum please, we’re trying hard to heal.
refer—> Mike Scales.. As you just wrote here so many flying accusations.. and that´s why it´s very important to stick to the subject here.. an that is why the sacking of Amadou Colley The Gambia´s central bank governor under dictator Jammeh´s regime. If discussing about a leaf of a tree, let´s just discuss on that NOT the whole tree otherwise I think you jumping out of topic and then creating more unnecessary rooms for more talk. I can understand your argument/questions regarding the claiming growth and inflation of the economic but I don´t think the figure from Mai Fatty, President Barrow, Minister of Finance or IMF are relevant here at the moment. I think many Gambians likewise myself are more interested to hear from Amadou Colley how The Gambia´s central bank economic was managed during his term as governor under dictator Jammeh not the opposite. ..Transparency & Accountability.. Jammeh´s favorite words when he took power in 1994.
Ceesay; I agree;
Fatim; I almost agree;
Dida, advise well taken. The last horse is indeed dead!
Too many dead horses. So, I’m off to Saloum to look for a new horse(s) that’ll listen and be amenable to being trained to listen.
After 52 years of total dissatisfaction with Government; Gambians need to know they have a Government with a difference; They’re not “soldiers with a difference”, thats for sure. Perhaps you could call them { by majority opinion} Lawyers, accountants and Hotel Management, property developer. with a difference.?
As such all will have some business knowledge, all have some political knowledge.
But regarding Public relations>>>so far and historically>>> ???
and let us have the costs attached to this government so far.
Let us have the costs attached to their multi dimensional mission statement. Have they abandoned Vision 2020? Have they abandoned “eat what you grow ” ?
Am I asking too much ? or are you all not in the least bothered.?
Freedom of Information if you please; Mr Jawo.
That#s funny Andrew hahahahahaha! I am at Chester races; Just collection my £3457 winnings… No dead horses to be seen only fast ones; God Bless.
Venice Beach at 3 -1
Mutawthab at 9-2
Storm King at 8-1
You are invited to dinner and the drink of your choice;
Andrew; I have no problem with you abundance of educative knowledge; and an ability to teach your preferred subject matter.
May I add; if you don’t treat Gambians as equals and prefer to speak to them as children with learning difficulties>>>Don’t expect the respect you crave;
To quote from Mandinka philosophy>> You can drag a horse to water/ but you cannot make it drink. Have a great journey to your personal enlightenment.
Its unbelieveable to see how ignorant and stupid some people are. Most of you have gone insane. Even Iblis/Satan will admit that mr. Colley is a hero and must be honoured by concious Gambians.
Don’t you idiots see how our nation is sinking? Are you deaf, blind or out of ur senses.
These handicaped UDP tribalist so called government are distroying these country in day light by robbing everything and take it to macky monkey Sall to hide it them and he take his huge share leaving Gambians with nothing to eat but plastic rice.
We are tired of hearing nonsense of President Jammeh taken all and the national coffer is empty. BIG NONSENSE!!! Does these thugs think Gambia are stupid like those here vomitting rubbish here.
Let UDP goverment tell Gambians how much they have found in the national coffer when they took over. NO we will never hear that. All we hear is Jammeh that, these.
These givernment is a bunch of thieves and Criminals. They cannot even form a cabinet for 4 months now. The nation is crumbbling and sinking in all sectors.
They must go with Ecomog together.
All in kind humor Mike. All in kind humor with no disrespect meant! It’s about sharing views just like you do every minute!
You’re also free to fight your own battles and blow your own trumpets as loud as you can! Haha!
One more swipe at the poor old dead horse Dida!
The feelings expressed by ” Is Da Reality”>>> must be considered and amplified and remedied. Peace brother. Let us find a way to speak of reconciliation with concession and a way forward with rational and reason.
Mike Scales,
There cannot be any transparency with this bitty and incompetent administration. They were there before. I mean in the Ex-President Jawara PPP administration. It’s the same cadre of elements of the defunct PPP regime that are managing, manipulating and directing the inept uneducated British Argos watchman in presidential clothing. What a pity for the Gambia.
Mike, do you know that all the PPP vultures have flown back into the Gambia to take the last bite of their recipe/carcass? BB Darbo, Saikou Sabally……… These people know how to rob from government coffers; know how to tribalise/regionalise our public institutions; know how to accord public/government scholarships to families, friends and affiliates; know how to form enabler groups that run their dirty errands to Marabouts/girlfriends where they squander hundreds of thousands of stolen state money; know how to acquire bank loans for their buddies; know how to use official vehicles for family and personal errands and waste the taxpayers’ MONEY on petrol and maintenance bills; know how to secure international positions on government recommendations for families, friends and loved-ones, in a nutshell KNOW HOW TO USE THEIR PRIVILEDGED GOVERNMENT POSITIONS FOR PERSONAL AND FAMILY WELFARE ALONE!
Transparency ought to have started with the declaration of their assets, and a clearance on their characters and jobs prior to their political ascension.
I only hope donors do not hand CASH MONEY to these vultures, thieves and armed robbers. If they do we are doomed. Because they are experts in shocking the coffers with false documents that “justify” the per diem travelling allowances; the refurbishing/repairing of building X expenditures; the petrol and maintenance of government vehicle expenditures; the over-estimated “miscellanous” expenditures that figure in all official receipts, the emoluments of non-working(non-existing) government functionaries……. the list goes on.
But what the heck a presidential clothing looks like?
Yeah, much better to be dealing with a humane, half-educated British Argos watchman-come-president, than an uneducated, improperly trained soldier of a beast-come president. Those AFPRC dogs(guess who), are the worst betrayers that could ever become any nations worst nightmare. They were a clique of hustlers guised as soldiers, who had all along being waiting for an opportunity, an that opportunity they were waiting for was the wrath that befell Gambia on July 22, 1994.
They burned resourceful citizens to death, buried some alive, tortured some to death or shot dead some in cold blood. Those kind of horrible atrocities in a small country like the Gambia, must have to be the reason of the paroxysm of the psychopathic online activism, of I the likes of @Babu Soli.
Hey Hey –> Stop! Stop! IS DA REALITY? Simmer down & take a deep breath. It´s national interest NOT Tribal interest. It´s democracy NOT who you know. In any development it starts with pupils minds and ideas so let´s express ourselves without been call stupid or ignorant. Take commando of yourself, your mind and your words not the opposite. I think we will all feel good and motivative by applying the principles of diplomacy and respect to each another. Do not strive after anger and accusation. Let´s simplify things on genuine base. The Gambia forever. Not matter our differences.
Jack(ASS),
Hey Jack the Jackass LYING here again in comparing a Gambia High School (now GSSS) product, President Jammeh; a trained soldier in the Gambia Armed Forces and in The USA; who speaks more fluent English without residing/hustling in England; who speaks French; Wollof; Jola; Mandinka, Aku, with a Crab Island drop-out assisted by the Momodou Musa Njie family influence into Gambia’s poorest high school, Muslim High School, lived a watchman at the doors of British Argos markets, your inept Adama Barrow dressed in “presidential clothes”. Wanted by the British for immigration offences!
On educational qualifications your inept “president” is a NOUGHT. Don’t campare him to President Jammeh, who lived a patriotic life and conscience without bowing down to outside influences.
Your LIES again. They were patriotic soldiers who redeemed the Gambia from decadance and stagnation and moved it to heights where the country is today. Your present incompetent “president” saw the opportunities that President Jammeh availed the Gambians which motivated him to return and go into the real estate business to corrupt landowners, vendors and buyers.
He was worn out in England and chased by the immagration officials there. President Jammeh’s government gave him the safe haven back home. Stop comparing their eduactional backgrounds and/or their administrative acumens. Your man is just USELESS. It’s a pity he’s at the helm.
Those who were buried alive suffered most before dying in the hands of the invading Senegalese forces in 1981 at the command of Ex-Presidents Jawara and Diouf aided by BB Darbo, Omar Jallow(OJ) and the defunct PPP henchmen of those woeful days.
Make researches on that gruesome episode and live with the reality. It will earn you a more democratic understanding!
Babu Soli, the mule on two legs,
He speaks French that is probably because he went to primary school in Ziguinchor being a born citizen of Southern Senegal. To me personally, it is not about the classroom, the type of chair you sat on or the type of desk you wrote on, but the type of brains that you have, to get that ability to learn and understand what is being taught to you. You don’t even look like you know the Netherlands. They have a lot of bad people like the rest of the world but it’s resident are pretty smarter than you sound. Even their dogs bark smarter than your gabbling. Oops, did I say…DOGS? No no no! Corrigendum, corrigendum. Kukoi and his primitive idiocy was the curse to the Gambia in 1981 and not the invading Senegalese forces. If you listen to his(Kukoi) howling on tape you will bet you heart he is a donkey. Bang bang bang! surely his knuckles on a table; ‘long live this and that, long live his Kukoi eggs and long live his dung’, you hear him farting.
The buried-alives I am talking about are the well educated and trained personnel in the army. They are Dots Faal, Barrow and others. The burnt, Ousman Koro Ceesay and many more tortured to death or shot dead in cold blood.
Just get out of your shell with your stinking little heart and see what will happen to you Babu. If you were Italian, they will refer to you as they did to Mussolini; cretino rassa di merda.
“Gambia: Sacked Central Bank Governor Speaks”
A gentle reminder of the topic of discussion.
Folks, calm down and let cooler heads prevail. Emotions are getting the better of our collective conscience.
I’m reminded of the old Kombonka from Tujereng, Afang Kemo, that’s looking to settle scores with his WUTU SUNYALAA neighbor, plucks his Khaftan off of the hook, utters a few curse words (what’s called BAA MAALU) then recites a few verses, checks that he’s got his sharpened knife in the works, applies his Jujus, the BALANDANGO plus the whole paraphernalia and then heads out the door with the intent to snuff out a life!
The Tujerengko then runs into the old Fulaman, Ba Demba Ngawreh, the deputy Imam who pleads for sanity and for cooler heads to prevail with a good dose of Islamic sermons. The Tajerengko is suddenly disarmed, falls back on his religious faith, holds his head in two hands and then praises Ba Demba. Bilahi Wolahi he said, if it were not for you Ba Demba, I’d spill some blood today! They both resort to prayers plus a good dose of Ameen, Ameen. Naffisatou, the neighbor joins the Ameens and then brings a cool cup of JII SUMAA (SUMAYA) for Afang Kemo. The potential fire is then put out on the spot and all parties go happy lucky!
So folks, calm down! You all keep blowing hot air off topic in typical small Gambian fashion but easily disarmed.
SOPE REKK, HUMBAL, KAWYEH YAA, SAATEH RING KAMBANI YAA, POLEH BU YOREWUL DARA all in furtherance of your supposedly BIG EGOS!
Folks, we do have better things to attend to. This is not a sermon but free advice. So take it or toss out the window!!
And…going forward, Michael Scales will now be addressed on this forum as BA DEMBA NGAWREH with the last name, Two Bob! E NO GO SCHOOL EN E NO LEARN BOOK! Do I sound like a rabble rouser?
You all decompress, reach for your JII SUMAA/NDOH BU SEDA and smile for the benefit of our dear Gambia!
I’m thinking Babu Soli, Sidi Bojang, Ba Demba Ngawreh, Peace, the Markazzi and Wahabi preachers and my pal Jack that tends to wallow in the mud every once in a while!
And yes folks, I can still take my TONYAA/DEGA and stuff it! I get that!
Good thing is that I’m still smiling like Dida, Dormu Rewum Gambia!
Jack(ASS),
Do you mean Ziguinchor, Cassamance in Southern Senegal! Oh, if President Jammeh were born there I would say he’s closer to The Gambia and Gambian cultures/traditions than a Jack(ASS) a British by name and tradition. I believe you do not belong to us. Go back with your JACK(ASS) name to where your father belongs, Britain.
Jammeh is more Gambian, more African, more traditional than that White man’s name, JACK the Jackass. Go back to your British fatherland. Wherever President Jammeh is, he is in Africa!
It’s not what Kukoi said or did, but what the bandits who connived with the Senegalese forces to kille, maim, rape, loot in our country. One day they will be brought to book!
Babu Soli,
Why sit on your dung hole in the Netherlands as a jealous-hearted idiot? That is not a wise way to be outright hateful towards Brits and their neighbors. Secondly, how can you know who belong where…., being a chip yourself, who doesn’t even know to which block you belong. Man, you got a lot of problem with names. Isn’t that a sign of lack real education and mental disorders in you? Now I don’t really get offended by your illiterate kind of insolence because you are a wild animal who needs training of a specialist.
It is true that from Tripoli to Capetown is Africa but we still have boundaries that marks countries in the continent and also limits to mark out towns, cities and villages within countries. You boss, the Very Mad Professor and Dr. Nuts Sheik Babilimansa has had his childish dreams trade unrest across borders of the two countries in order to cause turmoil but look at what has happened to him now. He is without a nationality until he comes back to the Gambia on extradition. Just come out of your shell and see who will be brought to book. Your participation in these forums is revelation that the evil won’t ever cease in trying to demolish what is built in righteousness sake. Primitive demonic and inferior complexed galloping beast Babu Soli, you keep talking about neo-colonialists, British, whites and all, but love to brag about chilling out in the Netherlands the Dollar bills you hand out to poor village men and women. That is the freaky fake *** barbarian, Babu Soli who thinks insolence and shameless vulgarity is an indication of his smartness and intellect.
@Pjalo, I forget I read your good word of advice but that’s because a beast on hooves just broke loose in town at the same time. Let me wallow in the mud, just for now.
Oh la la! Sacked Central Bank Governor Speaks: is the topic indeed..
Am happy to sponsor the Jollof News wrestling contest;
My money’s on Dr Sarr . She bites hard on playground bullies.
Calm down for god’s sake.
Andrew; You do talk a lot of shite !!!
Is national interest not tribal interest, did I get him correctly? Stop pretending as if you don’t know how ur government of the day is functioning in The Gambia. The worst VIRUS that must be surgically removed in The Gambia is this UDP THUGS Goverment. These coward government have brought in a kind of virus in our nation that is much dangerous than HIV. This government is the most ignorant and corrupt regime on earth. From the President down to the CDS Kinteh are all big thieves and criminals. Just three months in off shore Office they are buying and building houses in Gambia and Senegal worth millions of Dalasis. Where do they get that money from? All they say on and on is Jammeh have stolen this and that amount without proof. These government is a bunch of thieves and criminals.
Amadou Sanneh from Prison to Minister of Finance without checking his heath. Reason for his imprisonment corruption as he was accountant general in Ministry of Finance a big thief. Ousainou Darboe from prison to Foreign Minister without medical check up to confirm if his brain is normal and he have no experience on international relation. Barrow is an empty barrel as he knows and do nothing but remote control by Macky Monkey Sall the biggest thieve on earth. Maimuna Fatty Gambians don’t even need him as his party have never win a single Councilors seat not to mention a parliamentry seat.
They are busy stealing Gambians and President Jammeh’s assets every day and night. 15- 18 murder cases in three months without even tracing a single suspect. Where is their Ecomog forces? busy following women and drinking alcohol.
Gambians are paying these Ecomog forces.Tell ur government that we want to hear from them on how much was in the state coffer when they took over. Stop stealing stealing.
Is Da Reality,
That’s the truth/reality the Barrow enablers don’t want to hear from us, They working helter-skelter to silence us, but let’s keep steadfast and expose their corruption, tribalism, nepotism, ineptitude, incompetence, influence peddling, until the Gambian people eventually flush them out. Time and truth are on our side. They are just USELESS!
A very serious thing must have happened to so many Gambians’ sense reasonings over the past two decades. You don’t figure out the essentiality of a humane leadership in a country until it becomes led by an animal. You can learn a lot from the younger generation of Gambians who come to the West nowadays. Many among them are very ill- mannered. They shout. They are vulgar and have their pants on like they got a case of emergency in the wc. They are fussy, lousy arrogant, grudgeful, hateful and gee!, they think they got style. But anyway, is it my business? No. It just hurts meeting five young men, all with dropping off pants introducing themselves to you as Gambians. One or two with dropping off pants may be style but all five wearing their pants that way is quite embarrassing and decadent.
Anyone can learn the same thing about ourselves right in the forums here, market places, and taxi stands in the urban areas in the Gambia. Vulgarity and dumbness being expressed by someone every now and then. There is a high rate of drugs and alcohol abuse among the younger generation. I used to love a tour across the E.U cities but not anymore. The Jammeh regime has destroyed the nation more than we do imagine. It has indoctrinated the younger generation with decadence of all kinds, contrastingly worst compared to Gambian travellers before the dictatorship regime. This is a state of human resources statement, as important as financial ones.
Bourne, what you are observing is correct, but It’s not confined to The Gambia alone, It’s a USA influence, you can’t blame Yahya for this one, not unless he has been governing the world for the last 20 years. That pants at your knee style started from USA jails, when the youths got incarcerated, they were not aloud to wear belts to hold their trousers up.
Grim reaper, I recall the late 80s to mid 90s metropolis rapper, Tupac, taking the so-called jail experience to the streets and giving it real style in the rap communities and black hubs but believe me, even then, the ‘Ns’ of New York suburbs and L.A have not over exaggerated the dumb fashion like our less skilled Gambian youths, who don’t even know the difference between briefs and boxers. A contemporary who thinks they are educated because they can use smartphones. The ‘Ns’ of NY and L.A sport the dumb fashion with boxers. A ‘N’ showing off his behind in briefs is watched suspiciously. However the case, that kind of outlook is somehow getting outdated in the U.S.A metropolis suburbs.
Such decadent lifestyles in the U.s.a, on the other hand, have totally different implications compared to a country like the Gambia where owning a car gives one a higher status.
We may need the help of psychologists and sociologists in these reasonings though, but my belief as of now is that, the brutal dictatorship regime of Yayah Jammeh, has had a tremendous negative impact on the lives of the youth, contemporarily. The booze parties he throws, his careless ranting and sticking of his nose in private household affairs and his death threats are all bad examples for a stranded and frustrated youth.
Andrew Pjalo, yes I am an adult even though I might be in person, the best example of the kind of youth in my discourse. Sometimes in life, we may see a need to take things to a much better level. I desire respect for the name GAMBIA as well as for her citizens in general. One good reason I go anonymous is; I dare not say, in real life, some of the things I am provoked to say here online.
Bourne, the whole world has gone mad.
Hot Gossip;
The Jola Boy’s are building up a head of steam; If this is a reflection of the Jola opinion? Then let me ask this question to Babu and others/
What do you hope to achieve ?
Do you want to break this coalition ?
Do you want a new general election ?
Or are you just cataloging your grievances ?
To bad mouth your elected President and the entire personnel of the Cabinet is becoming a daily routine that does not assist those Gambians needing food and Jobs.
Listen to Bourne with your hearts and minds too!!
That’s an adult in the room.
And Grim Reaper, thanks for chiming in. Will you consider changing your pen name to anything not grim please?
By the way, I raised three successful daughters right here in the USA. So parenting has a lot to do with the outlook of the younger generation!
Thanks folks!
Andrew Pjalo, Lol! I’ll think about it.
Grim reaper, the hooded skull, NO, the world hasn’t gone mad. Younger generation Gambian are getting more and more hollow-headed.
Andrew Pjalo, please see my reply to hooded-skull aka Grim reaper.
The worst thing in life is an old primitive and out dated minded man criticising the younger generation on how they dress. That is non of ur business and am sure you have no control over ur own family if you even had one.
A responsible and concious old timer never spit such nasty criticism to younger generation instead he would use his maturity to address them in a way that would attrack their minds and listen to keenly.
We know ur problem bad old timer and ur problem is because young people are exposing ur corrupt, criminal, accidental and tribalist coward regime in kombos not in Banjul. They are running from one residence to another while the Presidental palace remain empty and dusty for no reason.
You know who built the Residence where ur accidental and imposed President is living? Its BABILI MANSA THE NATION BUILDER PRESIDENT JAMMEH.
Tell me, if ur president and his team as he do say have ever laid a single stone on any project of their own. Its a big NO!!
They steal from Gambians, international communities, BABILI MANSA’S ASSESTS. Can’t you advise them to stop stealing and learn how to work hard for money?
You know what you should do? Its better for you to shut ur shameless mouths off as you have nothing good to say.
No matter of ur evilous minds and thoughts, you will never and ever reach President Jammeh’s foot step. He is ahead of you forever.
Are you younger than me jumpy empty barrel?
I am talking of every youth in the Gambia?
Is Da reality. Is Jammeh who insults parents. I’ve not yet gone that bad. Read and understand. This is not rap. And even whereas it’s about rap, I can do better than you. Do you know the difference between ‘dress’ and ‘dress’.
Damn! You are another feather head.
Rect: do you know the difference between ‘dress’ and ‘striptease’?
God of his Mercy! You are talking about, “his assets”? Those are his loots. He came to power a miserable pauper and now, someone is talking about ASSETS? No where in the world you can find braying crooks like in the Gambia.
It was Jammeh who made a national anthem of, “we are not here to enrich ourselves” when they arm robbed the flourishing democratic process of the country.
In an advance world, Yaya is more a culprit than just a political one but then that is not the case in Gambia because out there some are just coming out of the caves. God have mercy on them.
“where in the world you can find braying crooks like in the Gambia.”? USA
I have a Gambian problem. I cannot have the U.s.a running in my veins. I am in the search for, ‘who is worst than me’ but indeed ‘who I am better off than’.
This is definitely not the case for a Grim reaper. Once you have that hood over your skull, no one should expect anything rationale from you, with your scythe in hand. Grim reaper why should you be pointing be pointing fingers anywhere else? You are manufactured in America.
To write: I am not in the search for ‘who is worst than me’.
Bourne, take solace in the fact that it takes a certain level of exposure, a good grounding and the proper perspectives on the part of individuals for them to be able to offer meaningful discourse that leads to meaningful ideas in society. Not everyone that responds on a forum has something to offer! There’s no shortage of detractors on this and other forums.
So save your energies in trying to respond to every “lost soul”. It certainly wouldn’t amount to a lost cause but you’d be saving your energies for worthier causes!
I agree to that Andrew Pjalo. Absolutely.
They have dragged me down to their level. I must relearn to getting meaningful in my participations. Thank you.
