(JollofNews) – Ex-Director General of the defunct National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Yankuba Badgie and eight of his co-accused persons Thursday pleaded not guilty in the Ebrima Solo Sandeng murder trial.
The high-profile criminal case resumed last week after prosecution and defense team battled over procedures for over five months, preventing the court to make any headway in a case that continues to generate headlines.
State prosecutors amended the bill of indictment as the accused persons will now face 25 charges. In addition to the 17 witnesses that were supposed to appear in court, another list of 19 witnesses are lining-up to give a first-hand account revealing the brutal repression of April 2016 peaceful protest march by the Jammeh regime.
Court proceedings is now widely expected to move forward, allowing prosecution and defense team to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
Hearing will resume on November 2nd, 2017 for continuation.
As expected the killers plead not guilty. Their legal team will now begin the ridiculous spin job to blame everyone in The Gambia for the murder of Solo. They will cast a web of deflection to include Jammeh etc. They might even blame your grandmother, maybe Senegal, perhaps Nigeria who knows. How this axis of evil plays out is anybody’s guess, if not that it is deadly and painful for the victims family, one will think is comic maximus! It is not. Surely there day of reckoning is near.
