(JollofNews) – A magistrates’ court in Birmingham has remanded a third man in custody charged with last month’s fatal stabbing of Gambian teenager Sheriff Mbye.
Montell Stephens, 18, of William Savage Way, Smethwick appeared before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court last Friday morning and spoke only to confirm his name, age and addresses.
Sheriff Mbye, 18, who lived with his parents in Lee Bank, died in hospital on April 17 after being stabbed several times during a fight outside a KFC restaurant in the Northfield area of Birmingham.
Stephens was also injured during the fight and was immediately taken to hospital. While there, he was arrested on suspicion of murder on 24th April and kept under 24-hour police guard until he was deemed fit for questioning.
Two other men – Rakeem Riley, 18, of no fixed address and Omar Robinson, 21, of Rann Close, Ladywood – were charged on suspicion of murder and remanded in custody after appearing before the same court on April 21. All men are believed to have been friends with Sheriff Mbye.
