The working relationship between the Master of the High Court Omar Jabang and Appeals Court Judge Omar Njie has reportedly developed some wrinkles as the former remains “unhappy” with the latter’s “interference” in his work, regarding the enforcement of demolition orders from the country’s law courts.
Property owners, who obtained demolition orders, have been going in and out of the Office of the Sheriff, enquiring about the state of the enforcement of the orders.
The Sheriff Division has been accused of colluding with people, who built on other people’s landed property, to prevent demolitions.
The Deputy Sheriff,Mr. Daniel Manneh, last month issued a missive to the director of physical planning on April 13th, requesting for “cancellation of all demolitions from the Office of the Sheriff”.
But sources familiar with the matter suggested that Mr. Manneh was acting on the orders of Appeals Court Judge Omar Njie.
If found to be true, this would tantamount interference in the work of the Office of the Sheriff.
Multiple sources hinted JollofNews that the Chief Justice Hassan Bubacarr Jallow cannot be exculpated from the blame of “depriving legitimate property owners from the fruit of their court judgements”.
Effort to reach both Justice Njie and the chief judge proved futile.
