A 19-year-old Gambian national Ebrima Jatta was killed in a road accident in Italy on April 25th.
Preparations were underway to repatriate his body to The Gambia for burial.
The decision to repatriate Ebrima’s body was made by his brother, who travelled to Rome from northern Italy, after receiving the news.
According to a source, Ebrima was riding his bicycle in Roscigno but lost control and crashed into an olive tree.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the late Ebrima’s bicycle was laden with some heavy shopping bags that may have jeopardized his balance.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but they could not do much to save the deceased.
Ebrima arrived at the SAI center in Roscigno a few months ago. His death has devastated the local community and friends.
A source said Ebrima was a perfect example of Gambians in Italy, integrating well into the Alburni social fabric. He was working in an hour agricultural company.
