(JollofNews) – A magistrates’ court in Gambia has freed the former managing director of the Gambia Ports Authority who was charged with multiple counts of giving false information to Njogu Bah, former Secretary General, Office of the President. Abdoulie Tambedou was accused of writing a letter to the Office of the President in which he accused his predecessor, Momodou Lamin Gibba of ungentle man behaviour and obstruction.
But in delivering his verdict, Magistrate Hillary Abeke of the Banjul, said although the prosecution has called seven witnesses, none of them have linked Mr Tambedou to the alleged charges
He said the prosecution has failed woefully to produce the case the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

“The prosecution neither adduced evidence nor did it call any witness to discredit the accused person,” the Magistrate said.
He added: “And having regard to the evidence before the court in support of the charges against the accused, I hold the view that the prosecution did not prove its case against the accused person beyond reasonable doubt. The accused is therefore acquitted and discharge accordingly as no prima facie case has been made against him.”
