Gambia’s Tourism Minister Removed

FATOU (JollofNews) – President Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia has sacked the country’s minister of Tourism and Culture, Fatou Mas

Jobe.
Ms Jobe, who was hired in February 2010, was sent packing on Thursday afternoon from her office. No reasons were given for her removal, but a statement from the President’s Office said it was in accordance with the provisions of the country’s constitution.
Until her appointment, Ms Jobe, an MBA holder from the University of Wolverhampton, was head of retail banking of Bank PHB and is accredited for building and maintaining the bank’s corporate image and community partnership initiatives.FATOU
She is succeeded by Benjamin Roberts, director general of the Gambia Tourism Board.
A master’s degree holder in Industrial Strategy and Trade Policy from the University of Manchester, Mr Roberts began his career as a financial analyst at Databank Group in 2004 before moving to Standard Chattered Bank as chief dealer. He later held senior positions of the bank including relationship manager, credit analyst and head of credit associate director.
In October 2010 and May 2012, he was appointed director of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency.
