(JollofNews) – A Pakistani hacker who made thousands of Gambian Dalasis by installing a giant sim box and diverted international calls from the Gambia’s international gateway is facing a possible time behind bars.
Tenuer Ahmed Sheikh has admitted causing monetary loss of D68, 135 to the Gambia’s main telecommunication company, GAMTEL between October and November 2014.
The Special Criminal Court in Banjul heard that the Pakistani’s act of criminality was detrimental to the economy of the Gambia and at time of his arrest, security officers found in his possession 148 Africell sim cards, one sim box with 16-sim cards inserted into it, one TV link router, one Gamtel wildfire wireless business, one Dell laptop, one bunch of power cable, one Qcell data card, and other items.
Tenuer who arrived in the Gambia in mid-2014 will be sentenced on Thursday. His lawyer, Kebba Sanyang, has pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as he has not wasted the court’s time and was remorseful.
