(JollofNews) – A court in Birmingham has remanded two men who are charged with the murder of Sheriff Mbye in the Northfield area of Birmingham.
Omar Robinson, 21, of Rann Close, Ladywood, and Rakeem Riley, 18, of no fixed abode spoke only to confirm their names, ages and addresses during a short hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.
They are both charged with the murder of Mr Mbye and the malicious wounding of another man, who is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.
Sheriff Mbye who lived with his parents in Lee Bank, died after being stabbed repeatedly on Friday evening following reports of a fight outside a KFC in the Northfield area of Birmingham, at around 5pm on Friday.
Helen Shipley, prosecuting, said: “Both Robinson and Riley are jointly charged with murder and Section 18 wounding. Both are indictable offences and both have to be sent to the crown court.”
Ms Shipley said there were no powers for the magistrates’ court to hear a bail application from the defendants.
