War Is An Option To End Jammeh Brutality In Gambia

Gambian soldier training

(JollofNews) – Total fear and hopelessness grips most people by the thought of war as way of forcing Yaya Jammeh out of power. With $300 million estimated cost of war to unseat Jammeh, what pride does he enjoy from that? Does this war monger really care about Gambia after shooting and looting the nation for over 22 years? If Jammeh chooses war, there must not be any negotiations.

By 19 January 2017, truth will prevail. Gambia has to be without Jammeh and his gang of economic criminals and murderers. They have taken the nation hostage for 22 years and that has to end.

Here are some reasons why war on Jammeh is the best way out:

1. From 22 July 1994, Jammeh waged war on Gambians which continues in his 22 years rampant killings for rituals or as means of instilling fear. Gambia under Jammeh has been the worst brutal police state where secret killings are conducted by commands of Yaya Jammeh. Bodies of Jammeh’s cruel killings are not recovered to be accorded decent burial by their grieving families, friends, and sympathisers.

2. When Jammeh is permitted to stay on as president of Gambia, his desire to kill more people will be fulfilled with worst situation. Already, bulk of Gambian population have shown their dislike for Jammeh and want him out. Jammeh is very furious about public rejection and wants to revenge. He has nothing to offer but bitter pay back on innocent persons.

3. War in Gambia will mean some people have to get killed. Without war many people will be killed by Yaya Jammeh as his way of revenge on those that openly rejected him. To keep Jammeh in power means he will continue killing. To wage war on him means he will be stopped, possibly arrested or killed. By leaving him to stay he will become more dangerous and hostile to innocent Gambian population who already demonstrated their total dislike for him. Besides, Jammeh has no plans of taking Gambia forward. His only ambition is to continue milking the Gambian economy and finance while looming large over the population. Anyone who dares question him will be seen as enemy deserving to be killed.

4. Unseating Jammeh by force will end all the madness he so brutally exerts on helpless victims. To let him stay is like permitting war on Gambians where Jammeh alone controls all deadly weapons and commands dangerous men and women in the army to shoot and kill innocent persons. War to end Jammeh’s rampant killings is salvation for Gambia. Leaving him to stay on means he will continue to kill and brag about his powers over any army on this planet. Something needs doing about this state of affairs.

5. Jammeh has been preaching war and trading on fear as way to control the population. Let nobody fear about Jammeh’s empty talks. Remember, when there is war, Jammeh will not continue to be president. If he is not president he will not have power of command where Gambian army under his orders will shoot and kill willy-nilly. Besides everything, what everyone in Gambia needs knowing is that Jammeh’s weapon power is like spark of match sticks when compared to the combined forces ready to tackle him dead or alive. It will be interesting to prove that after all, Jammeh is not that powerful. He is nothing near Saddam and Gaddaffi. Never be afraid of Jammeh. He is trading his own life and wants many more people dead with him. That does not make him any hero. There is no time for negotiation. As Jammeh pushes for war, let him have it.

  1. Here in Zimbabwe we have a tyrant as leader as well. We want to get rid of monster Mugabe but don’t know how. Gambia is a tiny unimportant country with an army that will run away at the first shot. How can both countries make things right? Perhaps we should bring back colonialism, when white men ran these countries there was no war and everything worked properly. Now in Zimbabwe we have a mindless corrupt thief in charge and Gambia has a deranged, vicious criminal in charge. That’s African culture for you.

    • how ingorant and brain wash you are, calling Gambia an unimportant country. What makes it an unimportant country? Secondly if you think yourslf inferior over the westen world then thats your own downfall, do not speak for the rest o your own Zimbabwian or African at large.
We as Africans need to educate ourself , fight corruption, greed, arrogancy etc to better our own nation. The Africans that go to the westen world to educated themself should go back after your studies and contribute to the development of your country as we are invading the west and are not welcome anymore. Sarjor Bayang I bet you are not in the Gambia but hiding in the west making such suggestiong. Gambia is such a small and peacful country that can’t afford world and we pray for peace. lets contiune to pray for yayah Jammeh to hand over power peacefully if not then keep on praying and be patient as nothing is pemanent. We should learn from countries such as iraq, libya and the likes as a lesson

      • MAY GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND UMMSAL BAH. those that are praying or want war to happen in the Gambia are agent of devil. Gambia must use all peaceful necessary means to resolve this political stalemate. i know Jammeh and Barrow love the Gambians and will not opt for war. MAY GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO GUIDE AND PROTECT THE GAMBIA. MAY GOOD LORD PUT ALL ENEMIES OF THE GAMBIA TO SHAME. AMEN.

      • The Gambia is a wonderful country but
We as Africans need to educate ourself , fight corruption, greed, arrogancy etc to better our own nation
Will never work its the mindset of africans to need want a brutal king type of leader

        And its true
when white men ran these countries there was no war and everything worked properly.

      • A wise saying my brother…The western powers care less about Africa… It’s their properties being destroyed… When you are not with them, you are an enemy.

        • @Ama Ghana = Is true that there are some unequal relationship between the North and South, but don’t you think is wise to continue work with the West while we agree and disagree with them? International relations and foreign policy has never been easy to manage because each country and region is looking after themselves, and sometimes is important to compromise.

Lovemore, we are still praying, and very much hoping, that Jammeh will leave before 19th January – and avoid bloodshed in The Gambia. Let’s pray.

  2. I am not a fan of any African leader but if u think war is the only option to remove them and white men should intervene in our own problem. How can you let aliens to solve d problems on earth. The method i suggest is that you go to d media call upon d children and elders and ask the youths not to join the protest and march peacefully to the president and told him nicely we all one if u kill one 4 d sake of power it seems u have kill all of us. Our are human beings like us prone to make mistakes. We should have the heart to forgive them so that there will be no room for revenge. Love is not a word that should only come from lips but from your heart so that we can work in harmony.

  4. IGP Sonko statement about elected president convoy is making many feel sick, General saul badjie is not a elected president but he was having convoys to and fro IGP sonko never say a damn, this clearly demonstrate how corrupt regime is. Any elected president should have security and atlease a minimal convoy for a protection. Gambia is not under normal circumstances remember we are dealing with a dictator who is not honest and has a evil wills. The biggest blundast he made was, he claim that he can cure HIV aids, this is very seriouse stupid things make the whole country looks laughtable.

  5. Calling anyone or a country unimportant is offensive if you have a case and you want argue it you can, as far as you keep it civil. Zimbawe did not go to an election were the president is defeated an conceded then later turn around and say i rejected totality and anull and avoid eclection results calling for fresh election. This is where the case rest.

  6. those who want ecowas military intervention in the gambia must be joking or sleeping.
they must ask themselves alot of very important questions.

    – who will finance the war?
-how long will the war take?
-how many people may be killed?

the west is broke and not ready for any war. nigeria is in recession and buhari must not tell nigeria to thier face that he is about to finance any war.

the jihadists are not far waway that may find the name ISALAMIC STATE OF THE GAMBIA appealling and opt to fight against invading army.

the casamance redels or separatists have warned senegal that they will join the war to fight for jammeh.

islamic state army have been dislodge in iraq and syria looking for another home. the gambia is not that far and they may be coming as tourists.

what will eventually happen when the inveding army leave. anarchy, i must warn. a brutal ethnic war between jola and the mandinkas.

lastly, we must all pray and make sure that all the necessary peaceful means are use to get the president elect in as the new presient , no matter how long it takes. THAT IS MY OWN STAND AS A GOOD FRIEND OF THE GAMBIA/

  7. War is not an option to end Jammeh’s brutality. The cute way to that and for the peace The Gambia is for the entire Gambian soldiers those of guard inclusive to agree in one arrest him on the 18th of Jan. 2017 to force him to handover power.

  8. War in The Gambia will extend to Casamance and will take years of war then we will see the benefits of the in in The Gambia is the key for Casamance like or not the reality is that so better take time for negotiation than stupidity wars

War in The Gambia will extend to Casamance and will take years of war then we will see the benefits of the war , again war in The Gambia is the key for Casamance vs Senegal as you all know, like or not the reality is that so better take time for negotiation than stupidity wars,, white peoples doing war for business to sale more weapons but black men just to kill black men Useless African leaders just mafias

    • Soninke, we are talking about some one who dont listen to the people espacially global advised from world leaders. Jammeh is making situation get worsen he has the chance to make gambia be more peaceful, but he is going to miss that window of opportunity. If we go by his way then this election in gambia is useless peoples voices through ballot is useless, just think about this, jammeh is the problem no one else but jammeh.

  10. Lovemore Mlambo, if you have an inferior complex for being an African, that’s a problem. If you want to be a slave again, that’s your problem. Each and every single country in Africa is very important, and how dear you call The Gambia unimportant? What does important mean to you? If you don’t view yourself important as any human being, then you have a big problem. I thought Africa should have united and pull our resources together and be stronger instead of thinking someone to come and rule us. Do you even understand the horrific history of Colonization and slavery? You will like it if you want to be an indentured slave. Where do you thing our corrupt leaders are taking the money they embezzle? Corruption is a problem worldwide, and what Africa need is stronger institutions to reduced corruption. If you want to reduced corruption and dictatorship, you have to confront it rather than running away from it. Dictators are not good for any society and Africa is struggling to get rid of them for good. But understand that all global societies experienced with brutal dictators at one time, and each of these societies struggle a long time before they became a more egalitarian societies. So it is now Africa’s time and we will defeat dictatorship rule. We should better think of uniting our continent to be one country rather than thinking of recolonization as what’s best for us. Africa will continue to work with her global counterparts as equals under the rule of law, respect for democracy and human rights.

  11. Lovemore Mlambo, you can return to those dark days in Africa, I know I don’t want to. What else we need in Africa is a presidential term limits. This would solve a majority of the political corruption in our beloved continent.

  12. To those of you who may not `fully catch up with full meaning of the key message, here is little explanation. For over 22 years Yaya Jammeh and his heartless perpetrators waged war on Gambians; shooting, looting, and causing fear. That is worse condition than war in the conventional way. What Yaya Jammeh continued doing amounts to war where only him and his killers control weapons against rest of the helpless population. If it takes real war to end the war that Yaya brought on Gambians, we need that war. In the war lasting 22 years where only Yaya and his killers enjoyed undue advantage, that is mass murder. Any war that will stop Yaya Jammeh from carrying on with his ruthless killings while stealing public money, that war is justifiable. Only those those who reason good enough will see reality. This article is not an advocacy for war but a call to end one sided war for total liberation of all helpless victims.
