I’ll Be Back, Exile-Bound Jammeh Vows

Jammeh waving goodbye to his friends, family and supporters

(JollofNews) – Gambia’s exiled ex-president, Yahya Jammeh has vowed to return to the country he ruled for 22 years before losing last month’s election to opposition coalition rival, Adama Barrow.

A security officer of Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) who was at the foot of the aircraft that flew Jammeh into exile late on Saturday evening claimed he clearly heard the former leader consoling his tearfully distraught supporters and expressing his intention to come back to the country.

There were emotional scenes at the Banjul International Airport as Jammeh paused on the steps of the aircraft to acknowledge his wailing supporters before entering the plane, with his family bound for Equatorial Guinea via Guinea.

”I’ll be back, I’ll be back” the source quoted Jammeh as saying casually.

The African Union have released a resolution guaranteeing Jammeh’s future return to the country at a time and manner of his choosing.

The former leader finally succumbed to diplomatic and military pressure by regional leaders to peacefully vacate the presidency for his successor, Barrow who will return to the country after a week in Senegal where he took th oath of office.

Jammeh who accepted defeat on 2nd December made a dramatic U-turn a week later to reject the election results, alleging widespread irregularities; provoking widespread national and international condemnations.

His party later filed petitions to the country’s Supreme Court challenging the results while calling for a fresh election to be organized by ”honest and God-fearing Gambians”.

Following concerted diplomacy by the Guinean and Mauritanian leaders during an extended deadline on Friday Jammeh finally went on state television to announce he was leaving the presidency.

  1. Voting in mass does not always constitute the TRUTH neither reflect the desires of the people.
Voting in mass does not always demonstrate the true values of democracy. It could be misleading and disastrous.
What we are observing these days since 2016 is the truth of these statements.
Voting in mass for the USA president Donald Trump was just a franchise that did not constitute the TRUTH neither reflect the desires of the American people. He is not wanted by his people.
Voting in mass for the UK «Brexit» demand did not constitute the TRUTH for the British people neither did it reflect the desires of the British people. They regret deject the whole episode.
The two voting exercises in The USA and The UK were misleading exercises based on lies, hatred and false allusions.
Voting in mass for the Gambian «Coalition» party to elect Adama Barrow did not constitute the TRUTH for the Gambian people neither did it reflect their democratic desires and aspirations.
It was a Gambian exercise based on cheating, conspiracy, bribery, tribalism and intimidation. Thus Adama Barrow and his «Coalitionn» are not wanted by the Gambian people.
The TRUTH will eventually come to surface when the bitty «Coalition» crumbles into ashes on selfish advocacies of its incongrous figures based on partisan ideologies.

The marionette «President» Barrow will soon learn that leading a diverse citizenry of 1.8 million Mandinkolu, Fulolu, Jolalu, Wollofolu, Akuwolu, Sarahulelu, Manjakolu, Balantolu, Kasinkolu, Manswankolu(my tribe) and all the diverse ethnic groupings is incompatible to his watchman job at the London Argos markets.
The GREAT LEGACIES of President Jammeh will remain till eternity!
Positive opposition to the Adama Barrow «Coalition» has just begun!
Long live President Jammeh, Long live the APRC party, Long live the patriotic conscientious Pan Africanist people of the Gambia.
Down with neocolonists and their henchmen and cronies!

  2. I just had to drop a line after reading about ecowas the AU and the UN. This would be a stab in the back and an insult to the Gambians. How can one man be richer than the nation including all the atrocities cause by yaya jammeh, on top of all that the deal sign by ecowas is to allow him freedom and to keep all his belongings that belongs to the nation. Adama is our new leader I however think this should have been a cross party consultation before sign by him. If this deal prove to be factual, my country is got a long road to recovery. All the hopes and dreams of Gambian’s would be put backward when the dust settled. This deal is bad for Gambia it should never had happen behind close doors. Yaya is still having a laugh over Gambian’s and would cause tension in Gambia in the near future. The saying goes leopard never changes it’s spot. I think this deal is so bad, how can you reward someone with failure. That is a green green light for our future leaders. I am so heart broken if this deal goes ahead. Good luck to adama because he has a mountain to climb thanks to ecowas the au and the UN.

  3. When a President can be elected because he can afford it, says very little for American values, but occasionally some one like Obama, can make it against all the odds, just like Adama Barrow. Trump took over high employment and a declining deficit. Obama was consistent if somewhat an isolationist. Globalization, is a challenge to all Western economies. Wealth,,,has shifted across the globe. What has happened in Gambia gives hope that Ecowas, can come together to get in the wealth race. AS with your belief in God, so we hope for your rise in brotherhood and shared economic values. Adama Barrow is proving a calming voice in these early days. Lets give him a few months grace,,,to spread his pair of safe hands.
