Gambia: Senegalese Paedophile Arrested For Rape, Murder

The sequence of events leading to the arrest of the violent sex beast rape is as intriguing as a plot in a John Le Carre crime novel. This is from the police log book:

“On Thursday 15th June, at about 04:00am, a 22 year-old Essa Jarjue a Senegalese national resident in Tabokoto was caught breaking into a dwelling house and attempting to rape a woman in New Yundum. He was escorted to Yundum Police Station where the matter was subjected to a thorough investigation.

“According to the interim investigations, the suspect was passing through a compound and noticed an open window and when he peeped through and saw a lady sleeping, he scaled through the window and allegedly attempted to rape a 23 year-old girl and strangling her. The lady struggled and yelled for help which triggered the rapist to run and escape through the door. He took an ITEL dual sim mobile phone belonging to his victim.

“The same alleged rapist proceeded to another compound in New Yundum and used a similar mode of operation by  entering through the half-away opened door of a house and upon seeing a  lady believed to be 18 years old, lying on a wooden armed chair, he attempted to rape her too. The lady upon realising some abnormalities on her body, screamed for help which forced the alleged rapist to run again.  However a group of people who sighted him were able to chase and catch him. They escorted him to the police where upon questioning a whole interesting pattern of his activities were recorded.

“After thoroughly going through the statements of the complainants, witnesses and the suspects, the police investigators at Yundum Station saw the striking similarities  between the case at hand and the previous rape cases reported to the police by complainants from Lamin and Faji Kunda villages. The suspect was confronted with the two incidents and intensively interrogated by the investigators.

“As a result, Essa Jarjue confessed to the police that on 26th May, 2017, around 03:00hrs to 04:00hrs he attempted to rape a 32 year-old lady in Lamin. Though unsuccessful, he managed to steal her two mobile phones.

“The following day, 27th May 2017, at about 02:00hrs, Essa Jarjue confessed to have gone to another compound in Lamin village and attempted to rape girl of about 19. He succeeded in tearing her underwear and although he failed in his attempt to forcefully penetrate her, he ejaculated on her thigh. The samples of the semen were collected by the police and were undergoing laboratory test by the police scientific support unit.

“When further confronted by the police investigators, Essa Jarjue also confessed that on 29th May 2017 as he was walking around in Lamin, he saw a window open in a particular compound. There too he peeped inside and saw a little girl sleeping, and he scaled  the fence and enter the room through the window and forcefully had carnal knowledge of the 8 year-old by covering the girl’s mouth and nose with his hand leading to her death.

“Jarjue also admitted to be responsible for the death of a 7- month pregnant woman in Faji Kunda as a result of an attempted rape on her. According to Essa Jarjue, he found a door opened ‘quarter way’ and he entered and saw a lady sleeping with her young child. He climbed on her and covered the lady’s mouth and nose leaving her unconscious. He turned the woman up front on her back to have carnal knowledge of her, then realising that she was pregnant, and could not do anything, he decided to steal her mobile phones and left the house.

Even though it was reported last week that the seven-month pregnant woman of Faji Kunda died of natural causes as indicated by medical reports, the police investigators remained suspicious considering the circumstances in which the lady was found. The police never relented in finding answers to numerous questions posed by the public for the police to establish the facts leading to the death of the innocent lady, thus, further investigations revealed that she died as a result of strangling inflicted on her by her alleged killer.
Since, all his mode of operation are similar, coupled with his confession of committing the various crimes, Essa Jarjue, is charged with 2 counts of murder, 4 counts of attempted rape, and 4 counts of housebreaking and stealing, which are all contrary to the criminal code, cap 10, volume III of the laws of the Gambia.

“Subsequently, the Office of the Inspector General of Police returns gratitude to the general public for their vigilance and cooperation manifested during this search and previous searches conducted on clamping down crimes and criminals.

The office further encourages the general public to continue being vigilant and report any suspicious crime and criminal activities in their neighborhoods, as that is the only way to guarantee a crime free Gambia.”

  1. A social misfit – Please, let the authorities apply full stretch of the arms of the Gambia law against this barbarian. If that means death penalty, send him to the gallows. He deserves every bit of it.

    • I am Urged my “Thoughts” to ask, if John’s reaction is an Application or Offer to be the “Judge, Jury and Excutioner” of the above cited Case before a Trial? What happened to, “the Presumption of Innocence Until Proven Guilty? Whether he Pled guilty or not does not Terminate this very basic Constitutional “Umbrella” from “Sheltering” him.

      • Sidi Bojang
Once a hypocrite always a hypocrite. Is the second name of the accused stirred something within your inner sanctity? What made you to come to the conclusion that John was trying to be judge, jury and executioner? The man is just expressing an opinion based on the confession of the accused and am sure many people will share his sentiments as a result of the severity of the crimes and the people it was committed against.
Or is this one of your classic case of selective justice, since it was committed by one of your tribesmen? You are willing to condemn John but not the beast who committed such detestable ungodly act against defenseless women and children. What a double standard? Sidi see, hear no evil when it comes to Jarjues, Badjies, Jammehs, sanyangs and Bojangs. May God protect our nation from the evil of men of satanic persuasions.

        • Natty Naughty, Simmer Down, lost sister. I merely stated that we should not be the “Judge, Jury and Excutioner”. I have audacity to Resist jumping on the band wagon to throw the first Stone. When he tried and found guilty by a Court, I would be ready to offer any Medieval or Appropriate Punishment. Your assumptions are on Thin ice, if not in a Quick Sand. No solid foundation. But that is not Surprising nor Unexpected. How can my Statements be construed as being Ethnocentric. The Victims are Jola. The ones he allegedly raped and killed. As for the alluding to my Statements to John, being Insensitive to Women, what would be Insensitive and Inappropriate would be finding out later that a Confession was Obtained by Ilegal means and that there is a Rapist and a Murderer or two Continueing with their Besstly deeds. May be because I spent uncountable months and years in Court rooms as a Profession and Career, not to allow myself to Convict before a Trial. Natty Naughty, may find that Acceptable, until she/he is before the Court. I am not.

        • Natty Naughty, Simmer Down, lost sister. My Deepest condolences to the Families of Victims and the Traumatized. I merely stated that we should not be “Judge, Jury and Excutioner”. I have audacity to Resist jumping on the band wagon to throw the first Stone. When he is Tried and Found Guilty by a Court, I would be ready to offer any Medieval or Appropriate Punishment. Your assumptions are on Thin ice, if not in a Quick Sand. No solid foundation. But that is not Surprising nor Unexpected. How can my Statements be construed as being Ethnocentric. The Victims last names can be Jola or Mandinka. The ones he allegedly raped and killed. As for your alluding to my Statements to John’s reaction as being Insensitive to Women, what would be Insensitive and Inappropriate we finding out later that a Confession was Obtained by Ilegal means and that there is a Rapist and a Murderer or two continuing with their Beastly deeds. • Sidi,
Out here, I guess commentators and opinion holders never pretend to be judges, juries or executioners. I think what they do is, express their opinion or views about issues that affect the Gambia and her people.

  2. It is the best that the Gambia will receive from Senegal.

  3. Nothing to do with any nation. We all have them. There brains are full of barbed wire.

  4. If he is not sent to the gallows or sentence to life imprisonment then at least his manhood should be amputated to prevent him from doing it ever again. In fact I think that is the most suitable punishment for all rapist. Our law makers should think of coming up with a law to deprive rapist of their manhood. That will serve as a good deterant.

  5. I hope our law makers are listening. Let them come up with a law to deprive rapists of their manhood as a punishment urgently. Rape is becoming a very common crime in our society now a days. My own daughter is a victim just recently [18th February 2017] and the perpetrator is still not known. Who knows whether this very man is the perpetrator ?
And let no one tell me that the suggestion I am making as the punishment is hash. It is not. Rapists are potential killers. Look at what this man did in a shot period of one month; killing two people.

    • My sympathies bro. I can perfectly understand where you are coming from. Crimes of this nature are incomprehensible and hard to forgive, but our creator extols the virtues of forgiveness and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive.
All accounts of this crime and the actions of the young man suggests that he is a very sick man who needs help; not retribution.
I think he needs to be sectioned into a mental home or mental institution for treatmemt and never be allowed out, until he has been certified to posed no danger to the public.
Evil is everywhere in our world and we have to adapt to meet the emerging challenges of our time and generation.
Mental illness driving sufferers to all sorts of perversity is a common reality of our age and time and we must rise up to the challenge that it poses to society.
People should not trivialize or politicize such an unfortunate incident. This guy would have done the same thing in Senegal or he might even have started his predatory behaviour there. It has got nothing to do with the relations of the two countries.

      • Thank you for expressing the Sentiments of many including me. May the Victims rest in Perfect Peace. May their Survivors find Peace of mind and Confort among their Families, Peers and neighbors.

  6. My deepest sympathy my friend. That is heartbreaking news you have shared. At least this man has admitted his crimes; The world is full of evil. But the deeds of good people far outway the cancer affecting all our communities.

  7. I am sorry but I do not believe in the old Justice of chemical castration. Though I do have sympathy for capital punishment for child killers and terrorists. Children must have supreme protection from the Law from all forms of violence. The recent terrorist attack at Manchester Arena specifically targeted children and young people. This offends the consciousness and inner sensibilities of all religions. Under the jurisdiction of God’s love. Though it is questionable as to whether capital punishment would deter either criminal. But sometimes I think those left behind to suffer,,, deserve Justice and closure too.

  8. Brothers I understand your positions but I am still with the opinion that because of the immense dangers pose by rapist to their victims and society in general something should be done to stop anyone who may ever have the thought of attempting it. Remember apart from the possibility of killing their victims they are also health risks.

  9. My Friend: I echo your concerns regarding STD’s from such enforced encounters. Of course how the Police and the medical profession treats such victims with respect and privacy is essential. For all victims there is also the ignominy of have to go through such investigations, personal scrutiny and necessary blood tests. Sometimes they feel “victims” in many other ways than the “act” itself. That is why so many victims prefer to suffer in silence. Especially young females. I regret the incidence of rape is much more common in all societies than is reported. The law also relies on the burden of proof. So there is no guarantee of a conviction.

  10. The fact of matter is; victims have & experience, in essence, death sentence scenarios, both in life long as you living, & just as in death too…
I think such people need be locked up for life; with possibilities in parole considerations ONLY when the predatory criminal perpetrators can’t physically pose physical any forms of threats to society at large…
Just why & how does rape criminals deserve to live; what about the victims in these particular incidents…?

  11. Rectification – can’t physically pose any forms of physical threats to society…
    Thank you…

  12. Life sentence I jail , life for life
