The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court no. 1 may embrace the Justice Haddy Roche style of dealing with backlog of cases by extending proceedings into the evenings.
As courts grapple with mounting criminal cases and civil matters, spanners could be thrown in the works of justice dispensation due to capacity constraints.
But in an apparent realization of the need to speed up the delivery of justice, Principal Magistrate Omar Jabang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday hinted at the need for the embracing of the “Justice Haddy Roche Style” to clear-up the case backlog.
“Even if we had to take the Justice Haddy Roche Style (hearing cases into evenings), we will,” Principal Magistrate Jabang stated as prosecution and defense argued over the date for the resumption of a cocaine case.
