The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council as the body responsible to steer the affairs of Islamic Religion in The Gambia has for Three (3) Occasions engaged both Coalition of Progressive Gambians and Government of The Gambia to dialogue on demands advanced by the pressure groups.
These discussion were held at Supreme Islamic Council Headquarters. Coalition of Progressive Gambians were represented by Their Executives while The Government of The Gambia was represented by Ministry of Interior, Ministry Information and Office of The Inspector General of The Police. Also, present during the mediation efforts was Peace Network.
As of today, we have come to consensus on the following:
A. Government has assured that they are open and willing to dialogue with The Coalition of Progressive Gambians.
B. Gambia Supreme Islamic Council and Peace Network to continue leading the engagements between The Coalition of Progressive Gambians and Government of The Gambia.
In view of these, the general public is hereby inform that planned November 11 , 2022 demonstration is postponed until further notice.
