The minister of sports Bakary Badjie has been reportedly tapped to run for KMC mayoral chair under an NPP ticket but the question that some have started raising is: Can KM Voters Entrust Bakary Badjie With Their Treasury?
Before his appointment as sports minister, Mr. Badjie was seen as a rising star as far as politics of representation is concerned.
However, he found himself enmeshed in an embarrassing case of spoiling his wife with public funds through his position.
Sports minister Badjie and his wife were at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham sometime this year.
The wife was not only accorded the rare opportunity of attending the games but she got paid for every night she spent in the UK whilst relishing the games.
This generated an uproar and Mr. Badjie was forced to shamefully return the money paid to his wife by the Gambia government.
This development did not only expose Mr. Badjie to profound embarrassment and public ridicule but it also created a cloud of doubt over his ability to oversee a public treasury.
