The United Democratic Party strongly condemns the statements of the President’s Spokesman, Ebrima Sankareh, on West Coast Radio’s Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, on Thursday 14th September 2023, associating the fatal shooting of the PIU Officers with the Brikama Area Council. It is very sad and dishonest for the Spokesman of the President to use such a tragic incident for political gain. To wrongly Claim that the suspect is a staff of the Brikama Area Council is not only dishonest but totally misleading and false. The whole motive is to associate the fatal shooting with the UDP.
We also condemn the continuous threatening of UDP officials and militants associating them with this heinous crime. The United Democratic Party is a Party that believes and promotes the rule of law. As we mourn the tragic deaths of the two PIU Officers, we are waiting for the conclusion of the Police investigation and the successful conviction of the murder.
UDP demands the immediate withdrawal of this irresponsible statement from Ebrima Sankareh and to stop misleading the public.
