The French oil giant TotalEnergies has embarked on massive safety recall targeting one their gas cylinders widely dispatched in neighbouring Senegal.
In a news dispatch released on September 2nd, TotalEnergies made the 6 kg cylinder (B6 and the 9 kg cylinder (B9) are the only ones involved in the safety recall campaign. They are both bearing the marked number 28.
The move taken by French oil giant comes at a time when a gas cylinder exploded in Dakar suburbs, Senegal, nearly wiping out an entire family. Preliminary investigation suggests that a mobile phone provoked the disaster in Derklé, Dakar, and has left the neighborhood in profound sadness.
TotalEnergies remained silent over the causes of the recalls and did not indicate the number of gas cylinders targeted.
