Senegal signs new airport deal

Senegal has awarded a contract, in millions of US dollars, for the supply of cables for its new airport to a Middle East company, Bahra Cables Company.
A press release published on Sunday, January 3, 2010, put the value of the contract at SR25m, and the task involved the supply of low and medium voltage cables and electrical wires according to the British specifications, which will be inspected and approved by an identified consulting agent, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants. The entire project is expected to be completed and delivered to the Senegal Government by the end of the year, according to the statement.

The CEO of Bahra Cables,Talal Idriss, said: “Winning Dakar International Airport’s contract is an important step towards highlighting the high quality of our products, which comply with international standards and specifications. We will continue on supporting Bahra our presence in the global markets through winning more external contracts.”

Dakar International Airport, the latest and largest airport in Senegal, is expected to accommodate two million passengers every year, and it will replace Senegal’s Lepold SedarSenghor International Airport.
