Ebrima Dibba, deputy national organising secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has hit back at Maimuna Ceesay and Siaka Jatta, accusing the two political figures of being enslaved by loyalty and silence in the face of wrongdoing.
In a blistering response, Dibba said his critics may come from respectable families but lack the courage to stand for truth.
“The only problem with them is that they have a slave attitude,” Dibba declared. “They never speak the truth nor defend it. This is what makes me different from them. I make sure I stand with the truth and die with it.”
The UDP official credited party leader Ousainou Darboe with teaching him to uphold principles, adding: “I have learned these principles from Lawyer Ousainou Darboe. I will never regret this lesson learned in my entire life.”
Dibba accused both Ceesay and Jatta of being voiceless within President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP).
“The party to which you belong, you are just like a dead horse. You are all quiet because they have sealed your mouths with ropes. Even if you see ill, you will never condemn it because you think that’s where your life and living are,” he said.
He recalled a past remark allegedly made by Ceesay, claiming she once said she would “lick even an empty bone” if offered by President Barrow.
Turning to Jatta, Dibba said he had been sidelined in the NPP despite his contributions. “I told Siaka Jatta that he was nothing in the NPP, because the president had to redeploy you to China after working so hard in the creation and formation of the NPP. Don’t you see that during the NPP congress, Seedy Njie ordered that you should not enter the congress chamber?” he asked.
Dibba also criticised Jatta’s silence when former presidential adviser Saikou Mballow allegedly made derogatory remarks about the Mandinka community. “Where were you when Mballow was hurling insults directed at the Mandinkas? There was nothing you could do to condemn his insults,” he said.
Closing his remarks, Dibba vowed never to tolerate such treatment. “They have insulted you and will continue to insult you until they are satisfied. You think I am that type of son,” he concluded.
