Dear Minister,
Please be informed that your hands lies in great power. If I may be so bold as to speak truth to that power, I am going to present you with a heartfelt appeal to you to become a minister who will go down in history as a great man.
I write this letter to you, not because I am trying to hunt, introduce an Idea or put my idea against the current ideas, strategies and policies being formulated by the ministry. I am not against anything or for it. I am more worried with only facts and actualities. As far as my slender ability allows I will not concern you with anything less than a matter of great importance in this letter. I wish to emphasize that I intend no disrespect either to the Barrow lead administration, to the ministry, to professionals, or to you personally. All we want to see is a better Gambia that will be the last place of hope on earth.
Personally I believe that corruption is what transforms a leader into a common criminal beyond all human imagination. In The Gambia, we have a large quantity corrupt individuals operating as politicians, and in our government too. Transparency International said that corruption over all was on the rise in The Gambia. The last time I checked The Gambia was ranked 145 out of 175 countries in its perception of corruption index.
You, in your position, hold the keys to our state’s coffers. Those keys are all that stands between the present and the future of the Gambia youth. Therefore those keys should be kept in a safe place where even the air will not touch neither to have access to enter. It is true that corruption fuelled by poverty often occurs when the basic need of the common man has not been met.
Corruption is one of the biggest threat to the well-being of a society. It degrades the quality of the services and also ruins the life of the common man. Many countries in the world are affected by this disease called corruption.
I am fairly certain that you will receive tempting offers and bribes to make it easier to support projects that are not beneficial to the state. I believe that good lies in all of us, and I hope that you are an honorable man. If there comes such a time that you are presenting with a financial reward for your service to your leader and his backers, I hope that you will allow your conscience to speak for you and that you will find the strength and courage to allow it to say no.

Be reminded that your ministry is a pivotal organ that need to lead by example in eradicating corruption in the smiling coast of Africa, Gambia. Our future will depend on our actions of today therefore there is a need to work as per the international standard of ethics and professionalism.
You should not allow neither to watch for the dignitaries to drive our country to ruin it in pursuit of their personal gain and interest, and as the head of the ministry of our national coffers you should not be one of the architects and the engineers of the destruction of The Gambia economy.
I submit to you that The Gambia has no independent detective agency which can investigate with full power and freedom to expose the corrupt individuals beyond mountain Everest. Hence anyone who commits offense on corruption will not be as afraid of the investigation as they can escape from it by taking help of ruling political party.
I do not tender this to give advice or self-aggrandize as one is apt to do or normal in our society, where every “self-respecting” citizen is a know it all. I allow myself to draw your attention to several facts that demand immediate attention, and do not require legislative action or other time-consuming procedures. In my humble opinion, it will not require any special effort in order to transcend this shameful worship of ideas which breeds ignorance, and halt corruption in the true sense of the word
In The Gambia anyone can establish a political party. So there are many political parties in Gambia. If the political party wins, then the members in it will desire to expand the party to all over the country. To do so, they need enough financial reserves. For this, once they come into power, they opt for corrupt means to make the wealth needed to expand the party.
I am quite sure that by implementing a different paradigm in policy making, corruption may be reduced. I also believe that politics is much more complex than any industry, because reason doesn’t always play as big a role as it should, and as it does in other industries.
Therefore by having a startup mentality towards policy making our political leaders can give average citizens the power to propose policies and become involved in the implementation process, something I believe that it will bring more transparency, efficiency, and accountability to the political process.
Prevention and eradication of corruption is an absolute requirement for better public life. This corruption takes an interesting turn in such a way that everyone becomes corrupt in some other sort if situation permits.
In every ATM there are camera to keep a watch on the public taking their money. Then why not government offices have cameras to have a watch on the employ performance. Even there are many employees who openly take bribe in presence of common men. This public bribery is due to confidence that public wants their work more than the amount they are paying to them as bribes.
Sincerely,

This should be the prime motivating letter to all Finance Ministers in Africa. Well said and written young man. such honesty and forthrightness should be rewarded,{ but not by illicit means .} Reading all african thoughts online…you have many supporters in view and content.
Thanks Mike Scales for those words of motivation
Saidina Alieu,
I love your piece. But remember that this Minister of Finance was arrested for impersonification, falsefying, corruption(by receiving money for favours) and subsequently jailed, while he was a UDP heavyweight. He was a criminal and still is. And no criminals should be reinstated to be given high public offices. The temptation of corrupt practices will always be prevalent. All the obnoxious per diem emoluments that were dished out over the past nine months at the cost of our poor Gambian taxpayers’ MILLIONS of dalasis came from his ministry.
They are fond of playing patronage and influence peddling at the enormous cost of our poor masses. These IDIOTS, CORRUPT and very SELFISH people were never screened to gauge their patriotism and level of honourable behaviour before being given our most vulnerable but important public offices. They were appointed on the basis of annoying the President Jammeh supporters, appeasing their sycophants but all at the lose and cost of the Gambian masses.
This would NEVER happen here, in Holland!
Well Babu, at least they haven’t dished out millions of Dollars to foreign artists and glamour girls, yet. Thus, it is “corruption” on a lesser scale now, won’t you agree?
Oh! By the way, how many officials were accused of corruption in the past, sacked, jailed/detained, pardoned and reinstated? I don’t know about you, Babu, but I’ve lost count.
So, Amadou’s appointment is just a continuation of tradition.
If you didn’t find it wrong in the past, you shouldn’t find it so now, otherwise, you will be guilty of double standards.
Babu I agree with you….
Bax,
Come on, Bax. I took you high on the scale to be surprised with your cynical and ludicrous argument as to say:
“If you didn’t find it wrong in the past, you shouldn’t find it so now, otherwise, you will be guilty of double standards”.
Then let’s take everything as it was in the past and so should be in the present. How far will such a shallow-minded manner of perceiving things take us? When we are trying to address matters of national concern for our collective amelioration and subsequent advancement?
If you write from your usual way of taking on Babu Soli, fine, I’m not bothered about that, but you are doing a disservice to your own intellectual feat and assuming an unpatriotic stand on our Gambian national interest. Think about the Gambia foremost and stop defending those IDIOTS and CORRUPT elements in your government.
Should a CORRUPT tradition continue? There is no yardstick to measure corruption and corrupt practices. They “eat” into the very fabric of society and retard all forms of progress. Minor or major, big or little NEVER consider corruption and corrupt practices as any forms of solace for national interests.
Be very sincere to your own conscience. Fight back to get rid of these INCOMPETENT, CORRUPT, TRIBALIST, INFLUENCE-PEDDLING and NEPOTIC elements from the summit of our national affairs, Bax!
Stop the bigotry and the “take-on Babu Soli” syndrome. You are not helping the Gambia.
Babu, I respond to you because of your approach to the discussions about our country. You see, your pretence to stand on the moral high ground and criticise the current government is fraudulent and problematic, due to your unquestioned loyalty and support for Yaya Jammeh: a man who has done far more damages and wrongs to The Gambia than Barrow could ever do.
I recognise the inadequacies of the Barrow Administration and I often criticise it, but I question the sincerity of a person like you, who sees nothing good in this new government, blows every one of its missteps out of proportion and even makes fictitious claims against it, whilst ignoring the brutality of Yaya Jammeh, as evidenced by mass graves, prison conditions and testimonies of living witnesses, as well as, down playing the serious revelations of malpractice, as per the ongoing commission.
You are using the commitment of the Coalition to operate differently from Yaya Jammeh’s rule of impunity, to stifle any debate on his records, but I will not fall for it. What is wrong today, was wrong yesterday and if you want to criticise it today, you must be honest and admit that it was wrong yesterday.
Until you do so, I will continue to remind you of your double standards and point out the immorality of your stance for all to see.
Jack,
Lobbying for office is as innocuous matter when one’s interest is to actively and positively participate in one’s national development. Prove yourself qualified to get to that official position, that’s all.
Besides, not all those who positively participate in national development should necessarily lobby for office. That thinking is anachronic!
PDOIS NAMs would have taken official positions, Basiru Jawara would have asked his children to lobby for office, Turo Darbo would have lobbied for office and many more conscientious Gambian citizens who are there, would have done likewise.
Does working for national interest necessarily mean taking official position?
I read on Foroyaa,{ that paper that has become less critical of Barrow all of a sudden}
That his press secretary claims Barrow took help for his campaign for President from the same “people” who were the” Preferred to remain anonymous donors for Nat Assm cars.” Oh Dear lol.
Bax You being a Constitutional wizard can you explain this.?
I was told some years ago by one of Gambias top politicians, that to assist any Political Party or individual seeking public office,,, and, that to accept assistance from a foreigner>>renders that party or individual seeking office Null and Void. This why all donations should be registered with the Electoral Commission for transparency and legality.
Bax; Is this correct and if so does the President have a duty of care to expose the donors,,,,and how much financial assistance may or may not have been offered ? and if they were None Gambians without citizenship. I think our friends Madi and Alagi have examined this donation situation with intelligence on Jollof News.
Please respond ? is there a need for the President to be the shining example of guidance and transparency at all times ???
Mike… I think your question is better addressed to the Hon. Halifa Sallah or Hon. Lamin J. Darboe. They would have given you the right answers from the constitutional viewpoint.
I am not quite sure what the law is, in relation to political parties and gifts, but I think they are prohibited from receiving gifts from businesses and foreigners.
Obviously, The Gambia, as a less naturally endowed and poorly resourced country, cannot and should never reject gifts, but these (gifts) must never become tools in the hands of the recipients and givers.
As for the 57 vehicles, I don’t see anything wrong with a donor requesting anonymity but how the gifts were manipulated to create the image of a benevolent President Barrow, going all out to address the transport concerns of the NAMs, is definitely wrong and unconstitutional.
In my view, either beneficiaries should receive gifts directly or the government should create an independent unit that can receive gifts, on our behalf, and distribute it as needed, without contravening the law.
I think both Madi and Jallow have made very good observers on this matter and I hope the administration is taking note.
Babu, tbose ‘corruptions’ you are alleging needed evidential substantiation; those too will either be dealt with in courts when you come with your evidences or be dealt in future when substantiated in similar commissions such as the murderous ajj alibaba & mfdc militia headquartered in kanilai…
The Gambia from now on can only head for better…
Gives us the facts as required; any corruptions proven with evidences will surely be seen to by the Gambians…
Otherwise you can continue to drum the evil aprc anthem who proven murderous by collusion & affiliation…
Gambians know with peace & sacrosanct human decency, things far from perfect currently after just 3/4 of a year but can just hope for some glimmer on horizon…
If its wrong at the beginning it is wrong forever; Three quarters of one month was long enough to remove and replace all the powers that give any executive impunity.
I think this bunch have adopted the” never never” philosophy, as a dream that has no horizon or specific time frame. Meanwhile most accept the status quo and make excuses why Jammeh’s “prevention medication” lives side by side with the ruling body and it did for most of Jammeh’s denial of wrongdoing years.
So what’s fresh ?
Mike, you talk a lot of tripe, how do you expect the Government to change something as important as some provisions of the constitution in such a short period?? Some of the provisions may have been manipulated by Jammeh to serve his interest but the intentions, spirit and general idea of some of those provisions may have merit. The Government is reviewing the constitution and engaging stakeholders so that they can make the right changes not rush things through as they did in the VP case. People rightly criticized them at that time and they listened, hence the reason why things are being done differently this time. But fork tongue critiques like you will always come up with some bull cake.
Bax..thank you for your wisdom. I don’t understand many things as I am often accused. But do you remember a parody in kind when Jammeh boasted his gift of 300 tractors, much like Barrow’s “gift” of Heinz 57 cars, as you say to bolster his philanthropic stature, Only to be derailed by my good friend Tamsir Jallow and his speech to the National Assembly, that in fact…it was China.
While this question of the nature and ambition of donors remains in question, do you not think Barrow has to declare who these $$$$ benevolent fellows are?
>>> and why has hon Halifa chosen not to raise this highly contentious matter.
>>and who now owns there cars and who has the responsibility to maintain them and will, there “company cars” be subject to tax as a benefit in kind ?
and will we have to wait several months for the whole truth and nothing but the truth be known>>similar to the reluctant Vice President debacle ?
Mike….I remember the tractor incident and the embarrassment it caused the regime, which may have led to the subsequent removal of Mr Tamsir Jallow from the National Assembly, where he was the Majority Leader.
Personally, I think people who genuinely help, but wish to remain anonymous, should be granted their wishes. Going public may discourage them from providing any future help. However, if there is any suspicion or reasons to believe that these gifts are going to influence certain government decisions in the future, then we need to know the donors and their connection to individuals or groups who may benefit from those decisions.
Hon. Sallah may not have spoken on the matter, but his fellow NAMs at PDOIS have done so. I think the fact that they all declined the vehicles speaks for itself, doesn’t it? However, I don’t think we have heard the last from PDOIS on these vehicles.
As to who owns the vehicles and whose responsibility it is to maintain, I don’t think even the beneficiaries have the answers. I think in their haste to create the image of a benevolent President, they created one big messy situation that will haunt them for a long time.
Time will tell whether this will linger on like the VP debacle. My suspicion is, there are many who won’t give them one moment of peace, until they do the right thing: own up to their mistake, rectify the mistake, apologise and promise never to repeat again.
I think any talk of impeachment or resignation is premature and a bit too far. We are going through a transition process and the nature and manner of the hastily cobbled together coalition, means that the “road” to the “promised land” will be “rough” and “bumpy”. Let’s have the patience to endure the “rough” and “bumpy” ride because the envisaged reward is worth the trauma.
and Babu>>> you are very correct>>this could not happen in Holland or any where else where true democracy with accountability and probity resides.
It would be another Westminster MP’s expenses scandal.
Mike, of course far worse things happen in “true democracy” as you put it. Does the Conservative Party donors link to Tax Avoidance ring a bell?? and have you so conveniently forgotten about Lord Ashcroft who was giving lots of money to the Conservatives yet he was non-Dom?? Stop being a hypocrite.
Some are talking of impeachment. I cannot see how the majority UDP’s would go for this. Should the President resign ?
Tony guttas and muhamed buzz run a ckeck keting economy venture in za gambia including ecowas sub region.
Thankyou Bax….well covered. But this “haunting period of perpetual mistakes” only exposes inexperience when Gambia cries out for experience. The President must leave the nation in no doubt about his “connection” For sure Gambia needs gifts of good faith. I gave many, but in full glow of the media. Same as when I donated to the online media, the amount and in my name. I know how Gambians value transparency.
Interesting piece on Foroyaa about Ousman Jammeh’s account of the Carnegie debacle to the Commission of enquiry. I have some knowledge of what actually happened and who was of interest to Carnegie’s security company. The further testimony tended to highlight and divert to Amadou Samba and Muhammed Bazzi, as a “fall back”. Mr Jammeh claims he tried to persuade His namesake not to expel Carnegie. Jammeh was said to have said, provided Carnegie paid a fair share of tax.. they could come back But then ex president Jammeh seems to change his mind?
Why did Ousman Jammeh try to change the mind of someone known for sharp and dangerous reaction for anyone questioning? resisting his authority? I think Ousman Jammeh needs to explain his strange reaction and challenge to ex president Jammeh. Why would he put his position at risk and what was his interest and intention? Or was it a matter of economics ?
Scales, you have a bigger explanation to do. So i suggest that you drag your “pair of balls” back to the Gambia and face the commission. The donations you are talking about are far less than your own share of what you helped the Dictator loot.
Indeed Bax, the dark kanilai age experience worth the time for our community to get back on knees from the brink & nurtured back to life…
Politicians in all strata, including Gambia, UK, US, currently, etc etc, all sought & accept gifts & donations publicly & in private (anonymous); it’s the unbalanced (unhealthy) behind scenes undue influences mainly on materialistic tendencies attached to give & receipts of such coded/prentious benevolences which warrants the scrutinise…
Donors either both in public & anonymous can acceptably tender & vie for Government contracts on transparent even fields but not monopolise &/ dorminate…
BAE Systems in Britain have been engaged in bribery to some Gulf States to unduly secure some defence contracts on fighter jets & ammunition contracts for example; while some of them continue to kill civilians in Yemen with the blindeyed-WEST looking the other way…; Putin’s elections sponsors too mainly have access to most government contracts in Russia; etc etc…
Adama Barrow too will have his underhand political tactics to woo support; especially in the other MPs & politicians & supporters from other political parties…
It’s politics at play on all sides including PDOIS & all other political parties on the ground…
There’re no saints in politics… We can hope to subsequently clear the ground from the toxic atmosphere from the murderous kanilai fiefdom, to exert pressure to hold the leaky ends tight, for ground-evening essential for healthy micro & macro societal advancement goals; but there’s some long way to go yet, regardless of whichever party is/would be at the helm in Gambia currently…
So I take it that you are all poor and living in financial fear and despise those who gained wealth and with it freedom ?
I think those Africans who reside in the UK and gained either through asylum, or family or job, the right to enjoy British freedom as equals, never complain as much as those who never made it to freedom.
Or live in a backward social system, despite all the international tax payers aid, loans, grants and donations, because all the western wealth dumped freely into African governments hands, only to be recycled back into secure Western bank accounts for anonymity and security. The last time I checked, Africa’s corruption ran into an estimated $180 billion per annum. More than enough to solve Africa’s energy deficit, to begin Africa’s industrial revolution. More than enough to take Africa’s children out of poverty. More than enough to create Lamin and Fatou a secure well paid job and income and pension for life.
The United Kingdom created the biggest social security revolution in 1949. Food was still being rationed after the War against fascism left us virtually bankrupt. Even so, we british enjoy medical treatment free at the point of need. Free education upto the age of 16 and sometimes beyond. Social security benefits for the unemployed. Housing benefit for the homeless poor. Disability benefits for the disabled. A State pension for life until death. In some cases those who cannot afford to be buried, will be buried with dignity free. There are compensation schemes for those war injured, with rehabilitation. Those infirmed or incapable but prefer to live at home, are cared for and where necessary, homes are insulated and modified to accommodate limited mobility assistance, free. Where there is limited mobility, the disabled mobility scheme will pay for a car and free annual road tax. In most cases drugs are free to those with a permanent medical condition. Free child care for the poorest and child benefit and tax credits for the lower paid. >>> and the statutory living wage. To become a Member of Parliament involves a very difficult selection process. To become a Prime Minister requires a history of service and proven ability with an intricate selection process by fellow party MP’s. The Prime Minister is supported by an army of highly qualified personnel. The Civil Service is a career based lifetime position, with advancement subject to performance and success. The possibility of corruption is very limited indeed. There are various select committees that oversee all aspects of government and convene regularly. Where there is wrongdoing, all involved are rigorously questioned, and where found to wanting, face the highest penalties. There is absolutely no doubt that Britain faces the enemies of some of its history…But I believe as Churchill believed,” That on the whole and it is on the whole that these things must be judged, Great Britain is a just and godly nation”.
There’s quite a lot to be admired about British history, but equally, there’s quite a lot of stuff there that is not so admirable (And that may be true for every nation).
For me though, revisiting that past will be like flogging a dead horse, unless it helps us to learn from it, to understand ourselves more and the world we live in, and use the knowledge and experience gained, to change our current very sad realities. There is no other benefits from the ping pong, mud slinging and self righteous games about that history. It happened in the past; it is better left there.
The struggle today, as it has been since man “discovered” social (community) living, is the struggle of the workers for ownership and enjoyment of the fruits of their labour, against the greed and “banditry” of a privileged, and mostly, unproductive few. And just like their African counterparts, the British Workers, as indeed, the workers of all advanced nations, are not immune from the consequences of this greed of the few.
The migratory pattern of the workers of the world, particularly from Africa to the West, is ONLY down to the fact that there are more “crumbs falling off the dinner tables” of these super rich few, than anywhere else. And humans, being the social beings of survival we are, will naturally gravitate towards habitats where our chances of survival are maximised; hence our attraction to the affluent, super rich West. It would have been the same story, if the shoe was on the “other foot.”
Bourne; I almost agree with all you write; Someone said to me today that God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve ? Have you any thoughts on the matter.?
Buba you used to be such a nice boy;
Gambian you never were a nice boy.
Mile, I am still me but I wont stand by idly and let you distort facts and cement hypocrisy in this forum. I will always agree with anyone who make a positive contribution to the current Gambian debate but wont hesitate to express my opposite views or expose hypocrisy. Mike can you please enlighten us about the achievements of David Cameroon before he became Prime Minister??? Mike it is true that the social welfare revolution started in 1949 but some of the things you mentioned like home insulation, mobility schemes and home care for disable and the infirm happened later as the country becomes more prosperous. West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum, Staffordshire County Asylum, North Wales County Pauper Asylum and West Park Mental Hospital in Epsom, Surrey, these were some of the places that severely physical and mentally disable people were kept from the public even with the “brilliant” social and health care system you mentioned above. Mike, Gambia is a budding democracy whilst UK has been a democracy for centuries, it is therefore misleading to compare the two, so Gambians will not let anyone trample on it. There is corruption in Africa just as it is in UK. The only difference is that here you have created laws that enables public officers to earn extra income, for example being an MP is part time yet MPs hardly pay for anything because they can claim a lot of things as expenses. They can even buy a house in London and the taxpayer will pay for it plus they can work in other companies as non executive directors. Furthermore, the law allows people to avoid paying the right amount of tax if they can afford a good accountant. Therefore Mike stop trying to paint a picture of UK that does not exist. Remember some of us live here so we know just as much about the UK as you know about the Gambia. If saying it as it is or telling you the truth makes me a not nice person so be it Mike. Mike you used to be objective; English you were never objective but only pretending for your own selfish interest.
Jack >>I was expecting this kind of old slavery/ colonial eulogy. But not to be put so beautifully and with the actors you use to make this repetitive last barricade of African/ stroke caribbean history>>>>> interesting.
Well written, articulate and true.
We have many conservative passport men in England. Most would never think of going to Africa>Should I apologize for their ignorance and superiority complex ? Yes I should. I apologize. Their is a strange bonding with the British working class and Gambians which I have never been able to explain. But at the same time that you were suffering, we were suffering too. Our tall ships were transporting our poor to new worlds and far off captured territories, who also worked in chains and housed in disgraceful conditions.Thousands died of cholera and starvation and hard labour.
1949 was the turning point. It was also my birthday. I count myself very fortunate.
I am not offended and never will I be. The truth never lies.
Bourne; I think as you get older and less capable, the things that were important at 17 seem so ridiculous at 67. That when we young and bold, we challenged the older generation to change with us. I have reached the age where I am challenging myself
to remain faithful to what I was and not what I have become. I think I just grew up ?
Even criminals too can pretend to be saintly…
The diamond in the ‘pride of Britain’ for example, the British Queen Elizabeth crown has been stolen from India…
Not to mention the barbaric piracy atrocities world over, etc etc etc…
I call on my selfless compatriots to redirect our invaluable energies to our genuine nation building efforts as we are doing & continue to do…
Not to be detracted by fluke scavenging parasites…
Thank you…
Thank you Bajaw. But you really must get over this fixation with Yahya Jammeh and that all British citizens are parasites. It disturbs the children and confuses their parents at the breakfast table. But at least you condemn both with equal alacrity. Which to me would indicate you are fair and balanced and not unbalanced as some might suggest.
True in words Bax; but sometimes it’s necessary to point out the practical examples to prove points, which could be only cited from the past (history & events) to shape into the future…
As being manifested in the Janneh commission tyranny, choas, injustices & inequality are perfect fertilite grounds for Mohammed Bazzis, Tony Gattas, Amadou sambas, & of course Mike scales, etc etc…
Otherwise what could be the endless systematic calculated disrespectful immigrant demeaning gaffes, tribal embroil mudslings, etc etc when we know a benevolent goodwisher contribution could surely be different & obviously better than in the positive including constructive critique…?
We can only cite the past to shape today & plan the future…
Mike you know not to throw stones living in glass house…??
What are your motivation for such systematic misadventure…???
Bax,
You may exercise your right to recall the past and remind everyone about what you perceive as President Jammeh’s “wrong-doings”. But that sholud not allow you to blindly accept what wrong is going on today.
Come on Babu, I always criticise what I think is wrong today, just as I criticised what was wrong yesterday. I’m not a blind loyalist like you, who sees no evil yesterday and no good today.
Bajaw,
Corruption and corrupt practices can be substantiated in many ways.
1) going on the pilgrimage with buddies and families when Gambians are suffering is a corrupt practice
2) taking over 50 people to a useless conference in the USA with the intent to allow them make benefits by receiving fat per diem emoluments is corruption
3) travelling to Congo, Brussels, France with large entourages to allow themreceive fat per diem emoluments is corruption
4) visiting Marabouts in Senegal to give them our money is a corruprt practice
5) organizing a million dalasi inauguration is corruption
6) spending millions to refurbish the state house in Banjul, the residence at Fajara is corruption
ALL these are evidential and many more undercover
Babu Soli
The same old tired boring accusations. What is new Babu? You are able to list 6 different practices you deemed as corrupt yet couldn’t find one against Jammeh and his government. What a dishonest, double standard immoral fool you are. Thanks to the Lord that you are exiled from our shores to save our people from your evil influence and your lying ways, something forbidden in our religion. You would have been worst than Jammeh had you been our head of state and that is a scary thought to have about any human being because only IBLIS will be worst than Jammeh.
Babu, I’m sure any of the above you listed as corruption will definitely be dealt with in a way &/ another if any intending foul play is proven with material evidence presented…
Bajaw,
Coming up again with your same excuses for “material evidences”. When the poor masses were groaning, you INCOMPETENT government only took it upon itself to send buddies, families and loved-ones to the Mecca. That alone is undone for people who accused the former government of the same thing. Come on, Bajaw.
What kind of material evidence are you requesting, when the purpose to corrupt is all evident?
Nasty Natty Dread,
When will you be freed from your very STUPID and IDIOTIC mind to say yes, my INEPT and INCOMPETENT government at Fajara is CORRUPT?
You are really SENSELESS. Your USELESS government has been sitting on its ASS for 9 months without doing anything, of course, only shuttling around the world, yet a NINCOMPOOP and DUNCE like you would accept what they do. Come on, you FOOLISH IDIOT. What religion are you talking about? Presidenmt Jammeh has done more than you idiotic fool to compare him with IBLIS.
Babu Soli
Yes Yahya Jammeh has done a lot of spilling of Gambia blood and the pilfering of our dwindling resources. He is a thieving lying son of BITCH and only fools in your league will see him otherwise. I am not bothered by your vulgarity mad professor. Your insults to me are like water on a camel’s back.
Bring it on!
Thank you Bax;
Buba; You actually made a good point amongst all your crap.
I have highlighted recently the plight of an African women stuck in the middle of a Indefinite Right to Remain case for 6 years. During this time she is housed by the local council form guest house to guest house, and lives on £55 a week. Her mental condition detiorated, and she was sectioned through her social worker and GP for speaking to God. She was assaulted and forcefully injected by 5 mental health staff and he jewellery was removed and stolen{ claimed to be worth over £30,000 She made a complain to the Police but it was dismissed and never investigated. She made a further complaint to the Hospital arbitration service but they became non contactable. She had been issued with a voluntary notice to leave the UK by The Home Office. I sat in at her Medical Board hearing as the named person and gave evidence. The result was she was released and now self medicates. She was awarded an experienced Immigration lawyer. Her case is being reviewed by The Home Office, on the grounds that she has evidence of mental illness.
You are right that the mental health service is backward and hardly changed from the Victorian era. Teresa May has announced support for reform and added a further £2 billion pounds to the mental health budget.
Mile, I can recall you mentioning the woman’s case before and I applaud your support then and I do so now. Theresa May’s promise of £2 billion will translate to only few million pounds by the time it reaches the front line. Jeremy Hunt wants to spend over a billion to create 21,000 new posts consisting of more trained nurses, therapists, psychiatrists, peer support workers and other mental health professionals. However it takes a minimum of three years to train each professional, with psychiatrists taking up to 8 yrs to train. Lets not forget the attrition rate from the NHS in general and Mental health in particular. So by the time these professionals are trained they won’t be adding to the workforce but filling caps left by the more experience ones. Training health care professionals is not the issue in UK, keeping them is the issue. Government should spend more effort on improving the working conditions of health care professionals but these Tories have totally destroyed morale in this sector with pay freeze and now removal of NHS bursary for those who want to join the service.
Sure Babu, the pilgrimage thing should have been dealt with fairerly by even distribution of the tickets donated by Saudi Arabia to all regions if I have my way…
However, if a president is directly ‘offered personally’ & sent the arranged aircraft specifically in separate arrangement the people to join the entourage will be expected to be politically selected as all & any politicians would do in their shoes…
In nutshell, the current government is learning in the driving seat; not at all perfect but far more better than the murderous kanilai fiefdom; with our current & continuous dissent & constructive critique & critisms things can only improve into the positive gradually…
Buba, if there’s any covert &/ underground Robin hood status Mike tries to proclaim now, it certainly & contrarily doesn’t match & is totally incompatible with the arrogant supremacist Donald trump behaviours of his lately…
Mike needs to grow up not with age alone but with reality to acknowledge the unique effects of globalisation which has its challenges undoubtedly & far long way to go but incomparable to the positivity in enhancing global cooperation, security & progressive societal advancement…
Ironically, unless changed since then both supremacist Mike & Trump both claims immigrant partners…
Immigration contributes to all economies everywhere; there’re brits living in Gambia one of them married to a cousin of mine; there’re Africans living back home who can hire Mike as a live-in housemaid…
Mike disrespectful conducts lately aren’t acceptable towards our community (Gambia) at all in uncertain terms…
Jack,
Have you made a comparision between my rejoinder to BAJAW and the one to NASTY DREADFUL NATTY DREAD? They come in order on this postings. Please read them and mark the differences in language. And read NASTY NATTY DREADFUL’s earlier rejoinder which warranted my “unacceptable” language according to your judgement.
Look, Jack, I’m Gambian from the provinces, lived a long time in the metropolitan Gambia, especially in Banjul, and know the CRUDE and NAUGHTY behaviour of most Gambians especially the unruly youth of today. So I don’t care to respond to their lack of manners as that’s the only way to tame a RUDE person. NASTY NATTY DREAD has always been sulky, uneducative, stupid, unruly, uncouthed. I will always respond to him/her (as s/he confuses her/his sex) anytime s/he takes on Babu in the usual way. PERIOD
Bajaw,
This is where we’ll always defer:
“In nutshell, the current government is learning in the driving seat”
That’s the excuse they took to anoint themselves FIRST, their families, buddies and party stalwarts at the detriment of our citizenry. Remember Bajaw, that these people have been in the Gambia all their life and have villified the past government for what they are doing now. They are no new-comers to the Gambian situation. They have lived with it!
You take these instances as minor and Allah ordained opportunities, the idea of most Gambians, while I take them as corrupt practices which continue to corrode the fabric of our society.
If Saudi offers them the opportunity (which I hardly trust), they could have asked for a better development project in exchange for the Mecca Hajj offer which would have benefitted the poor masses than a religious project that benefits a handful and in this case themselves and their families.
Besides, why didn’t they do the President Jammeh offer of selecting people from all corners of our country inspite of their tribal or party affiliation? Remember he sent Pa Nderr Mbai’s(Freedom Newspaper) mum to Mecca, one of his most prolific critics. That’s leadership.
I’m a devoted Muslim but when it comes to national interest for collective sharing, my religion comes second.
Why didn’t they go to Mecca in their civic life? Wasn’t the Hajj important to them then, when we are told that Adama Barrow was a “rich” Real Estate businessman, Ousainou Darbo was a prosperous lawyer, Hamat Bah was a prosperous hotel owner, Mai Fatty was a “great lawyer”………?
A true leader who comes to ameliorate the social and economic conditions of his people would NEVER embark on such STUPID and GRANDIOSE self-purification, self-aggradizement activities at the expense of his VERY POOR people. It’s sinful! Allah will not accept that Hajj. Personal guilt has made them refuse the ALHAJI title onto their names. They conscientiously know that the Gambian people have grumbled at their swift nature of grabbing pleasures when national tasks are still abundant and unresolved.
As if they were in a hurry to amass money and purify themselves, in 9 months, they were able to go around the world and LEAVE our amenities-torn country in shambles. No electricity, no portable water supplies, upsurging book bills and tuitions at college, university and tertiary institutions, failed agricultural production, expensive basic commodities, rising crime rates…………………. Hardships that FADED away in the President Jammeh era.
They will only embark on working for the Gambian people after completing their personal-purification and aggrandizement tasks, won’t they?
WHAT A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT ELEMENTS!
@Babu Soli : “Hardships that faded away in the (ex) President Jammeh era.”
Are you sure you’re talking about the same “Jammeh era Gambia” we all know?
Look at what happened to social security to keep NAWEC generators running!!! Are you proud to defend this day light robbery?
Babu, a precondition offer for pilgrimage can’t be changed or requested for development aid…
Yaya evil devil never sent anyone to Mecca, those were Saudi Arabia sponsored tickets allocation to Muslim countries…
I for one, doubt Yaya Jammeh has God in itself, much more qualified to be Muslim because it’s a murderer & devil idol worshipper clothed in pretentious attire hypocritically carry the holy Qur’an about…
The current government is doing good, especially with the commission into the kanilai fiefdom mismanagements & leech & fluke infestations & tyrannical deliberations since inception; with rooms for improvement for better; humanity in the Gambia regained the sacrosanctity required which has been lost & absent for past 22 barbaric years; & there’s some way to go though before we can get to the satisfactory point in most areas which is all warranted by the evilnes of the past kanilai dark age deliberations of a devil on human legs…
