Cooking pot and other kitchen wares were among some of the items that the UDP listed in its 2021 election petition as “compelling” pieces of evidence of voter inducement, but President Adama Barrow and his nephew Amadou Sanneh appear to have learnt no lesson from the UDP’s election petition as the duo late last month gave key ruling party figure Seedy Njie cooking pots to deliver to voters in Sambuya village ahead of the December presidential election.
Other items that could induce voters such as football jerseys and balls were also given to the deputy speaker of the National Assembly and arguably the most influential figure in the NPP to deliver to the people of Sambuya as the NPP sets its eyes on scooping over 70% of the votes in the fast-approaching and eagerly-awaited general election.
The President’s nephew Amadou Sanneh appears to have since last year assumed a frontline role in the NPP’s national project for hearts and minds, making his presence felt at public events such as football matches.
An investigative report released sometime last year linked Mr. Sanneh to a loan of millions of dalasis from Mega Bank. The loan is reported to have been contracted in questionable circumstances.
Mega Bank was a struggling public financial institution that became liquid thanks to the hard work and sacrifices of Gunjur-born and former Central Bank official Mr. Omar Kaddy Jatta and team.
Mr. Sanneh denied contracting any loan from the bank in questionable circumstances.
