Electricity Supply Restored In Parts Of Gambia But For Less Than 5 Seconds

Electricity supply was restored in parts of The Gambia, but for less than five seconds before consumers returned to the painful power cuts that they have been enduring for weeks now.

The power shortage continues to be excruciating as there appears to be even no load to shed among consumers.

Meanwhile, The Gambia Government has yet to respond to the remarks made on Coffee Time With Peter Gomez on Monday by former international civil servant and head of The Gambia’s civil service under Sir Dawda administration Mr. Larry Ceesay that US$400 million was so far invested in the revitalization and rejuvenation of NAWEC in the past few years, but nothing spectacular has so far happened in terms of electricity and water infrastructure improvement.

The youth-led pressure group Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) has vowed to marshall people onto the streets if the national electricity grid continues to palpitate up to June 15th.

Several sectors of The Gambia’s economy have been experiencing paralysis since last month thanks to sustained blackouts.

NAWEC promises to resolve the country’s electricity nightmare by June 15.
