Contrary to reports, last Saturday, that President Yahya Jammeh was set to leave Banjul the following day to join his peers in Ethiopian to attend the 14th Ordinary Session of AU Summit, it turned out that the Gambian leader never made it to Addis Ababa. And in an unusual development, the Gambia Radio and Television Services did not make any announcement regarding the aborted journey. However, sources close to State House have told this paper that the president made a sudden u-turn on his way to the airport. This is not the first time President Jammeh is unceremoniously cancelling a trip to an international conference, just within the last minutes. It could be recall that during one of such last minutes cancellation, GRTS reported that a bird entered the plane’s engine while it was already on air, forcing it to make emergency landing.
