Life-Vice President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), H. E Alhaji Salifu Kutubo Jaiteh, has made an impassioned call on those aspiring to lead the GFF to be motivated by the desire to develop football and not the FIFA cash.
The former football administrator said the pioneers of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) now re-christened Gambia Football Federation (GFF) made huge sacrifices of both their resources and time in their quest to develop the beautiful game in The Gambia.
“I could remember when erstwhile GFA president the late Alhaji O.B Conateh once used the title deed of his compound just to secure funds for the GFA. We were also using our personal resources to develop football in the country because the GFA was not well-resourced, financially and materially,” the GFF Life-Vice President said when approached by JollofNews for comments on the GFF’s upcoming elective congress.
He pointed out that money for football development should not be used for any other purpose.

“Money coming to the GFF from FIFA or any other source should be invested in football development. It should have that trickle down effect such as the construction of standard mini-stadia across the country and talent nourishment,” stated the former top football administrator, who is also the Cyprus’s Honorary Consul in The Gambia.

The GFF’s elective congress is set for August this year. Amadou L. S Jaiteh, former GFF finance director Kemo Ceesay and former GFF executive Sadibou Kamaso all have their eyes set on the GFF top job.
