Ex-LRR Forestry Boss To Testify In Rohey John-Manjang’s Case As Star Witness – Sources

Former LRR forestry director Mr. Lamin Bajo is the “star witness” in the D50 million defamation case that the environment minister initiated against The Alkamba Times and its chief investigative reporter Kebba Ansu Manneh.

Environment minister Rohey John-Manjang’s lawyer was involved in talks with Mr. Manneh for nearly a year with the goal of resolving the dispute alternatively.

The matter has now reached the high court following the collapse of the talks.

Mrs. Manjang sometime last year demanded, among others, an apology from The Alkamba Times when the medium published an article about her alleged involvement in the reported Kiang Kaif illegal timber sale. The article was authored by Manneh.

According to authoritative sources, former LRR forestry boss Mr. Lamin Bajo, who accused the minister of direct involvement, will testify against her former boss.

Mr. Bajo lost his job sometime last year after reportedly insisting that the timber that the minister was allegedly involved in disposing off by way of sale would not go anywhere.

Mrs. Manjang denied dirtying her hands with the proceeds allegedly generated from the alleged Kiang Kaif timber sale.

The defamation case resumes on June 1st.
